Robert DeNiro is set to join Mel Gibson in Martin Campbell's upcoming police drama
Edge of Darkness. According to
Variety, this will be Gibson's first major role since starring in both
Signs and
We Were Soldiers back in 2002.
The film will revolve around Gibson's character, a straight arrow homicide detective named Thomas Craven. When his daughter is murdered on the front steps of his home, he believes the hit was meant for him. Craven's investigation leads a path to his daughter's secret life, a corporate cover-up, and the government's own shading dealings. DeNiro is set to play an operative sent in to clean up the mess.
The film begins shooting this month in Massachusetts.

have mad max faceoff against travis bickle.
I just hope the film, and its performances, can be judged on its own merit and not condemned because of Gibson's past behavior.
Wait... I don't know. He's only 52. If Harrison Ford can still play Indiana Jones, why not Mel and Mad Max. Just a thought. I could be talking out of my ass LOL
Robert: "You talkin' to me?!? You talkin' to me?!?"
Mel: "Where's my beer? And where's my car keys?!?
