Tyrese Gibson Eyes Marvel Comics' Luke Cage

Source:  SCI FI Wire
Tyrese Gibson (Transformers) is reportedly looking at playing Marvel Comics Luke Cage in the upcoming adaptation to be directed by John Singleton. Gibson spoke to SCI FI Wire about the possibility of appearing in the film.

"They're still tweaking the script, and all I will say on that is if that slot eventually opens up, I'll probably be that guy to come in there and bring that man to life and have a little fun," Gibson said. Gibson did, however, joke that he'd need to bulk up to play the character. "I'll have to do a lot of bench-pressing, [because] Luke Cage is a lot to live up to," he said. "But, like I said, I'm not officially signed on yet, but they definitely have me in mind."

Luke Cage, who once went by the superhero name Power-Man, was one of the earliest African-American superheroes. Cage was a wrongly convicted prisoner who gained super-strength and invulnerable skin through an experiment. He often teemed with the martial-artist hero Iron Fist, and is now a member of the Avengers.

I've changed my mind, I do have a comment, I think that the Raze guy is a good choice, of course the only image of Luke Cage that I have is from the videogame Marvel Ultimate Alliance. . .

Kevin Grevioux, (The actor, writer and producer of the film, Underworld) would be a great choice to pplay Luke Cage.

He has the size and the smarts to play such a complex character.

I'm actually not that familiar with Luke Cage, so I really don't have a comment to make.

I think Tyrese can pull it off just needs to hit those weights Luke Cage has some size. I always thought Michael Jai White but Ty can do it.

You guys are saying "they can do better" which makes me assume that you have a better actor in mind. Have any ideas?

Now that Marvel is paying for their own movies, and since Downey's success, Marvel can do WAY better. Plus, Luke Cage movie? It's all about Iron Fist.

Blade UK heres the last news I heard on Black Panther
During a press junket for "Never Back Down" Djimon Hounsou revealed he has signed to star in a comic book trilogy that he called his "Dream Project." Hounsou would not reveal futher details but rumors are beginning to surface that Black Panther could be a possiblitiy.

The Marvel character has been said to be in the works by Marvel's president of production Kevin Feige. Other names attached with Black Panther include John Singleton who in July was approached for the project while Tim Story, the director for Fantastic Four: Rise of The Silver Surfer, had said Honsou would be his first choice for the Panther.

As far as rumors go Black Panther is not the only possible candidate for Hounsou's dream project. Luke Cage could a likely possibility or perhaps it's the Tintin trilogy from directors Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson.

Hopefully soon more solid confirmation will be revealed.
