As for the film and its rating, I agree with the general consensus. But PG13 or not, my gut says Cameron's so-called magnum opus will fall flat on its blue-flat-nosed-face. A simple example, almost ninety percent of my friends, people in line at the theater, the fat blockbuster attendant, all think it looks strange and stupid. A lot of WTF stares shot Cameron's way.
The only sure-money is the die hard Cameron fans, many of whom have probably abandoned ship during his absence. Sure, you'll draw in the bored December crowd, the sci-fi nerds, and average movie folk. But, as D stated, the economy has put some weighty restrictions on people's attendance. I don't think we'll have a Titanic or Dark Knight with multiple trips to the cinema.
I won't pretend to have a degree in box office analyzing, or throw up statistics and facts, I simply believe, Mr. C will be disappointed.
Whatev, I'll still toss my eight bucks at his feet. Anticipation is mid-level; more curious, than excited...
Uha. Apparently I missed the swap somewhere in the last two years. Anyone think the tide will change next year, given Paramount's line-up?
Lovely bones, Sherlock, Shutter Island, Ironman 2, and Airbender? I'm looking forward to all of those. :P
But anyway, I really don't have any interest in seeing this. It's like Space Jam with real people combined with CG, and that turns me off from movies, although I did like Who framed Roger Rabbit, but that was a screwball comedy so i would let that pass.
Also, do to the budget of this movie, I would have to say that this probably will be PG13, so that it'll make it's money back faster.
Also, believe it or not, there are adults out there who consciously refrain from going to R rated films. I'm not exactly one of them, but I'm pretty picky.
Brady,
PG? we never went that low.
This is Cameron we're talking about. PG's not an option :P
The prospect that this could be R is because, well, this is Cameron we're talking about. All of his famous Sci-Fi films in the past, minus The Abyss, were R. However, I'm sticking with PG-13.
1. this film will not be an R rating
2. this film will not make ALOT more if its rated PG vs PG13
3. what makes you guys think this will even be Rated R
4. if a 10 yr old wants to see it, he will be going with his 15 yr old brother or sister or maybe a parent
5. are you guys referring to it not making alot of money based on the rating of pg vs pg13 OR pg13 vs Rated R............because rated R status would drop this film atleast an extra 25% in box office. but PG to Pg13 there really is no difference....it didnt stop 8 yr olds seeing The Dark Knight and this movie doesnt have the fan base as TDK obviously...i will safely assume this film will put up $120 - 200 million
