While Roland Emmerich's new disaster film won't hit theaters until next weekend, it seems that a TV version is already in play. According to
Entertainment Weekly, director Roland Emmerich is working on a TV series based off his film
2012 is already being planned. Here's what Emmerich told the site at the
2012 premiere last night in Los Angeles.
"The plan is that it is 2013 and it's about what happens after the disaster," Emmerich told EW while walking the red carpet for the
2012 premiere Tuesday. "It is about the resettling of Earth. That is very, very fascinating. (
2012 writer/producer) Harold Kloser and I came up with the idea and we have the luxury of having a producer on the film who is a big TV producer, Mark Gordon. We said to Mark, 'Why don't you do a TV show that picks up where the movie leaves off and call it 2013?' I think it will focus on a group of people who survived but not on the boats ... maybe they were on a piece of land that was spared or one that became an island in the process of the crust moving. There are so many possibilities of what they could do and I'd be excited to watch it."
executive producer Howard Gordon is also an executive producer for TV series' such as
Grey's Anatomy and
Private Practice and it was said that Gordon is currently in talks with ABC for this potential series, although the network declined to comment.

Don't forget the Nick Cage movie "Knowing", that was an end of the world movie and the world actually did end at the end of the movie.
God, I wish I was a film director. I would be able to right so many wrongs like X-men origins: Wolverine, and a few others. But I'm not famous nor I'm not a director.
just once i'd like to see an end-of-the-world movie where the world actually ends.
That is so cliche for an "end of the world" movie.
In a whole there is far too many humans on this planet, but anything is possible. If something like this did happen, it would be in waves not a matter of hours.
