Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh has been set to direct the soccer comedy
The Magnificent Eleven, for Angry Badger Pictures.
According to
Variety, Welsh will work with the father-son writing team Pete and John Adams on the next draft of the screenplay.
The Magnificent Eleven is scheduled to shoot later this year. It's a modernization of the
Magnificent Seven centered on a local amateur soccer team, a Tandoori restaurant and a group of menacing thugs.

First up, the magnificent 7 was based on Karisawa's Seven Samurai's. Movies have used this basic premise over again ever since, for Comedies or action.
