Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers to Play Super Bowl XLII

Source:  Variety
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers have been made the official performers at this year's Super Bowl Halftime Special. According to Variety, this comes as another classic choice for the NFL after having to contend with the Justin Timberlake/Janet Jackson fiasco two years ago.

While Prince had to perform in the rain last year, Tom and his band won't have to worry about the weather. The stadium they will be playing in is domed. Petty's music was used last year during the NBA playoffs.

Super Bowl XLII will be held on February 3rd, 2007, at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

Very cool, but since the Superbowl will be here in Phoenix, they should get hometown people like Alice Cooper or Stevie Nicks to play!!!
