It seems that an anticipated remake has hit a stumbling block in the director's chair. Pajiba first reported that director Peter Berg will not direct the Dune remake, which was also confirmed by CHUD.

Pajiba reports that the remake still is in the works, with Josh Zetumer writing the film, and Paramount is searching for a new director. The site mentioned that directors Neil Marshall and Neill Blomkamp are in consideration to take over. It was also reported that Robert Pattinson was in talks to star, but those talks were with the recently-departed Berg, and it's unclear if he still might join the project.
