Is Josh Schwartz Writing X-Men 4?

Source:  Black Book Mag
Is it true? Is The O.C. creator Josh Schwartz really writing the next installment of X-Men? Well, according to Black Book Mag, the prolific Gossip Girl mastermind is indeed writing the script for X-Men 4.

Apparently, it is a prequel of sorts. About the project, Schwartz stated, "I'm very well aware that I'll be bludgeoned by purists, but I love its mythology, and it comes with a pretty hefty paycheck."

Apparently, Josh wants to utilize some lesser known mutants in this next outing. The main plot will center on a teenage prodigy stationed at the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning. About this, Schwartz said, "It's not like I'm adding new characters like Toaster Head, or anything like that. The Incredible Hulk looks like it's going to be terrible. And why does he look like he's fighting against the monster from Cloverfield? I mean, with Transformers, it's not like fans were going to come back saying, 'You used the wrong car.' This, however, is a different story. Brett Ratner didn't have a lot of credibility going in to the third X-Men movie, but I think Bryan Singer [who directed the first two installments] got a free pass on Superman Returns because of his work on X-Men."

X-Men 4 does not have a production start date at the moment.

I belive mr. Singer is not right for X-Men. What X fan has ever seen get his tail handed to him, first by Mistyque and in X2 by Lady Deathstrike. Logan is supposed to have this whole martial arts background... He's supposed to be the best at what he does for Pete's sake!! Ratner , for me, did a better job by very far...

Good idea if there making this one a prequel they could explain what happened to Gambit because he is supposed to be in the woveriene orgins movie even tho the 3rd one kinda left everyone guessing what pissed me off the most is that the 3rd one didnt have nightcrawler in it and didnt explain wtf happened to him

I think this one is going to have a half-ass brutalizing depiction of X-Men once again! They should have stopped at 2. I mean I love X-Men, but all the did was take the characters and make up their own fucking story. They barely have anything to do with the comics. X-Men movies suck ass in comparison to the comics...
...end of story.

Yeah, artkid04, you're right about Gambit. But he was talking about X-Men Origins: Wolverine, not X4. But that kinda sucks because I was hoping to see Gambit in the first three movies, but at least he's getting into a prequel!

has anyone heard this,
About the project, Holloway stated, "We had a meeting and they wanted me to play Gambit, the card dealer character, they thought I'd be perfect for the part. We'll see. l would love to play a superhero. I'd love to wear a cape and tights."

In response to artkid04:
Okay. I get what you're saying. No need to apologize though, everyone's opinion is respected. I'm kinda ranting too. :-)
But I made a mistake on what I wanted to say. What I really meant to say was, drop X-men 4 or reboot 3. And that's not likely that it's gonna happen. This new writer's just pissing me off because he's ripping a movie before it even came out yet. And claiming The Abomination looks like the cloverfield monster?! Give me a break. That dude's a douche. And saying that he's only doing it for the money? He'll put no heart into it, and all writers need to put heart into their stories, or the story will be crap!!!
P.S. Is the badguy in The Incredible Hulk "The Abomination?" I really didn't read the comics that much so I don't know, but I think it is. Please correct me if I'm wrong, somebody.

Anyone besides the shoehorn guys who wrote X3 will be good for the franchise. Sort of a prequel? Whatever he's doing as a writer, he should reverse most of the plot of X3.

One thing they dont understand is that the X-Men franchise is not beyond saving just because the last installment was a bit of a let down. Ok a huge let down but still its recoverable. What they need to do is get the writers from the first two movies or a different, TALENTED set of writers as well as Brian Singer Directing and have them fix the mistakes of the last installment. Now I have said it before and I will say it again, Cyclops and Professor X are both very very easy to bring back (remember that you never see Cyclops bite the big one, you just see his face get a little messed up when he kisses Jean.....Thats all!) Its more than doable.

Also seeing how as though at the moment Movieweb has nothing on either one but the new Dark Knight Trailer is online at http://www.whysoserious.com/happytrails/trailer.htm and the new Indiana Jones trailer is online in HD at http://www.indianajones.com/site/index.html.
Enjoy Guys!

The creator of The O.C.? Is this fact supposed to give us confidence in his ability? Sure as hell doesnt give me comfort. He creates a show about a bunch of whiny asshole bastards and that qualifies him for XMEN? Am I missing something here. I truly hope this is false information. I dont know maybe get the wriers of the first two XMEN films to write the 4th, maybe? Just a thought. Better yet lets get the creator of Barney to take a wack at it, what the hell.
