Zack Snyder's
Watchmen hit many theaters at midnight last night. So, how did it do? Much better than his last film at midnight.
Variety is reporting that
Watchmen took in $4.6 million from midnight shows last night, more than double the take of his last film,
300.
The film unspooled in 1,595 theaters for midnight shows and its overall theater count when the film opens nationwide today, 3,611, is the highest theater count for an R-rated film in box office history.
300 took in $70.6 million during its opening weekend, and some feel that
Watchmen could beat that tally this weekend.
Stay tuned for the box office numbers when they are posted on Sunday afternoon.

I think the movie to be consider good should be clear enough for itself, not by reading the novel before. I¡ve read it but haven't seen the movie yet, so I'll judge it when I do.
Moviemaniac, I trust you kmow that not all fanboys are alike, and what makes us be in this site is our love for movies, as I'm sure you share too.
But Roarshack was official as was Blueman.
And as for Pype-bomb you should have posted things that explain the story instead of being the typical, predictable moron that post immature comments.
I dragged my Dad to the midnight screening promising him a good time and he loved the movie. He was glad he hadn't read the book because he said none of the suprises were given away for him. And he said the opening credits scene was enough to explain what was going on. Seems like if you don't understand the movie without reading the book, then you just don't have a strong mind. Snyder made it pretty easy to like this movie without having read the source material.
I'm not gonna go so far as to tell haters to suck someone's cock. But, I will say, give it a couple more tries, maybe on DVD. You might wind up enjoying it some more.
This movie kicked so much ass regardless!
The only character I gave a damn about was Rorschach because he was really the only character that did anything. And when it comes to screenplays (and adaptations as well) your protagonist must be active. He must do something to obtain his/her goal. Rorschach kicked ass while the rest complained about what needed to be done. And if they did act it was just for the sake of acting out.
The characters themselves were just flat. I didn't care who died. Rorschach was the only one who was dynamic in anyway.
The story structure was so jilted I couldn't keep pace with the movie which lead to my above problem.
Where did that furry horned cat come from?
Dr. Man was an interesting character but all he did was complain on and on so by the end I was just hoping he would shut up. Basically his character was just a plot device in the movie.
Over all the dialog was really cool and fresh but in spots I was just cringing.
This movie goes to show that somethings just don't make good movies. The novel might of been great but as a movie it feel flat.
The directing was great and the look of it was simply amazing but if this movie really is that close to the book then I don't know what to say.
I know A LOT of you are going to verbally bash me on this but I gave reasons why I didn't like the movie which a lot of morons on here don't do all they just say "it sucked" or "that movie was gay".
Oh, and anyone who watched i, can ya'll put up a review? Gracias.
