Martin Henderson Is Mr. Smith in the ABC Drama

Martin Henderson will star as the male lead in ABC's drama, Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Doug Liman is directing the adaptation of his 2005 movie starring Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt; Henderson will play opposite Jordana Brewster.

In other TV news, Mark-Paul Gosselaar has signed on to star in Barry Schindel's untitled dramedy for CBS and Scott Free Productions.

The show revolves around a group of Los Angeles public defenders; The Hollywood Reporter notes Gosselaar will play a charismatic 30-year-old who leaves his life of privilege and opportunity to run for Congress in order to work as a public defender. In the pilot, he will star opposite Janeane Garofalo, who has switched roles; originally cast as the head of the Public Defenders' Office, she will now play an intense and irreverent public defender.

Kirstie Alley has been tapped for the lead in Fox's comedy pilot, The Minister of Divine. The show is based on the British series, The Vicar of Dibley. It centers on a woman (Alley), known for her rebellious younger days, who returns to her small hometown to be a minister.

Cole Hauser is set for K-Ville from 20th TV; it's a buddy cop show set in post-Katrina New Orleans. Hauser will play one of the two cops in the center of the project.

Also, Colm Feore has joined ABC's procedural drama, Judy's Got a Gun. The show is about a rookie female detective who struggles to balance her personal life as a single mother with her job as a police detective in suburban San Carlos; Feore will play the captain of the San Carlos Police Department.

Kurtwood Smith has been added to the cast of Fox's Supreme Courtships; it's about the lives of six Supreme Court clerks and the judges they work for. Smith will play one of the justices, while Zachary Knighton (The Hitcher) has been cast one of the clerks.

Lee Pace is set as the lead in ABC's drama pilot, Pushing Daisies from Warner Bros. TV and Jinks/Cohen Productions. Barry Sonnenfeld is directing the romantic high-concept procedural about a man (Pace) who can touch the dead and bring them back to life.

In other pilot casting news, Paula Newsome has come on board the Fox/20th TV drama pilot, Women's Murder Club. It's about four girlfriends who solve tough murder cases; Newsome will play one of the four.

And, Seth Gabel has joined the ABC/Touchstone TV drama pilot, Dirty Sexy Money; the show is about a young lawyer representing the Darlings, a rich, powerful family - Gabel will play Jeremy Darling.
