Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Snags $16 Million from Midnight Shows

Source:  Variety
Transformers: Revenge of the FallenThe fans came out in a frenzy at midnight to catch the latest installment of the robots in disguise in near-record fashion. According to Variety, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen took in an estimated $16 million from midnight screenings last night.

While the mark is the highest ever for a Wednesday release, the tally still falls just short of The Dark Knight $18.5 million gross from its midnight showings.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen bowed in approximately 3,000 screens at 12:01 AM last night and will expand to 4,226 theaters today.

The movie has made $16 million on its midnight premier, the most ever for a Wednesday midnight run. Warner Bros.' The Dark Knight scored $18 million for its midnight run last year, but that was on a Friday.

I saw "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" on opening day 06/24/2009 ...I found the film a huge disappointment ...Just like the 1st film ...Little to no plot ...and about 1/2 hr of Non-Stop action towards the ending which made the film seem like about 3 hrs!

My Final Rating: C-

Starscream was so dissapointing. I was actually mad about that, and the fact that Megatron seemed like no match for Optimus in both fight scenes. Which doesn't even make sense since Optimus got his ass kicked in the first one. I noticed that the autobots were tougher than the decepticons. I was also disappointed that Soundwave didn't fight. I was waiting for him to fly down there near the end, but nope. Kinda lame, but overall the movie was good, had a different attitude, almost like it wasn't a sequel to Transformers 1 with all the swearing, sexuality and balls references lol. It was like the adult version of Tranformers. I liked the plot of the first movie better, this one seemed like there was too much going on, even with the 2 and a half hour running time, the movie's plot was funky. So the jist of the movie is that The Fallen, Megatron, and Starscream are no match for Optimus (which is cool but he seemed overly dominate). Bumble Bee was dominate too, which he deserves more badassery anyway. The best parts of the movie are the 4 main fight scenes.

*MINOR SPOILER ALERT*
The 4 fights: The first one was the brief fight scene when Optimus and BumbleBee bust into the warehouse to save Sam and Optimus is blasting them with his big ass gun and shoots Starscream out the window lol. The 2nd (my favorite scene) was the forest fight scene of Optimus vs Megatron, Starscream, and Blackout. It was probably one of the coolest scenes I have ever witnessed lol. 3rd scene was the Twins vs Devastator and one of the twins is shooting Devastator in the face and talking shit while doing so haha. The last fight scene (which was pretty awesome too) was Optimus vs Megatron and The Fallen and Optimus was all bad ass looking and literally pwned their asses, he made The Fallen look like a joke basically. The rest of the movie was just humor. It was funny, but the plot was wack.

Seen it last night. And have to say i am slightly dissappointed. Even though Bay gave us far more on the screen i can't help but feel it lacked certain things with some of the main characters (as in the robots). Good movie, but not what i was expecting.

GokuSSJ4.... what the hell are you talking about?

1) Ledger was NOT a D list movie star. Maybe not an A lister until the Joker role, but definitely not a nobody as you claim. D list my ass.

2) The Dark Knight was not anything special TO YOU. I'll respect your opinion, but it IS special to millions of others... obviously. So you're in the minority.

3) and last.... you say "this or Harry Potter will crush Titanic's opening weekend"? Of course they will idiot. Titanic made a lousy $28 million its opening weekend. And because this movie opened on Wednesday instead of Friday, IT HAS NO CHANCE OF COMING REMOTELY CLOSE TO THE DARK KNIGHT'S OPENING WEEKEND.

Think before you start blabbing like a chatter box.

Soundwave being a satellite did not settle with me that well. What was he going to do? Pick up cell phones signals? Lol. My favorite part was Megatron fucking up Optimus and Megatron putting Starscream back to his place which is second in command.

June 24th, 2009 2:15pm
It was pretty good, but 2 1/2 hours was way too long. They threw in way too many robots (and most of them were as useful as red shirts from Star Trek). Optimus Prime was a badass, and Megatron was actually in the movie (instead of the last 1/2 hour of the last one).

If you're wanting to see an action movie, see it. If you're wanting to see a movie that's about the story of Transformers, you'll be in hell.

3.5/5

NO, no ,no Newkill this is a MOVIE not a FILM.

June 24th, 2009 1:42pm
Hey New Kill you don't like it don't come here! Fucking Troll as for the film it can't get the 18,000,000 because we didn't have a D list movie star die during the making of the film.

Its easy to make that much when its hyped as Heath Ledgers last film (Which it is not)

I've seen the Dark Knight and it wasn't anything special, especially Bales acting BLAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

I have said it once and I will say it again this or Harry Potter will crush Titanic's opening weekend. This is the middle of the week people have to work.

It wasn't disappointing, in fact it's what I expected from Micheal Bay. The actions scenes were too frantic at times, and the storytelling felt disjointed. But it was was a visual orgy nonetheless.
Did anyone notice how every college girl in that movie was a complete babe? If only that part of Bay's world was real.....sigh.
