With hardly any competition, last week's winner was not kicked off the island in the home video charts. According to
The Hollywood Reporter,
Nim's Island stayed put atop the DVD sales and rental charts, for the week ending August 17.
There were no major theatrical releases on DVD this past week, which made it easier for
Nim's Island to stay on top, but it also paved the way for many TV DVD sets to enter the top 10 in sales.
South Park: The Complete Eleventh Season came in second place on the sales charts, with
Prison Break: Season 3 in fourth place and
The Wire: The Complete Fifth Season coming in sixth place in DVD sales.
The only new theatrical release to break the top 10,
Smart People, finished in seventh place in sales but performed strongly in rentals, taking a close second place, with almost 93% of the rental business that
Nim's Island made in its second week.
Things remained mostly the same on the Blu-Ray charts, with
Batman Begins remaining in the top spot for Blu-Ray sales with
The Bank Job stepping up to second place and
21 slipping to third place in 1080p sales.
