Johnny Depp Is the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland

Johnny Depp Is the Mad HatterThe announcements just keep coming today from the Walt Disney Showcase in Hollywood. It was announced today that Johnny Depp has signed on to play the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton's upcoming adaptation of Alice in Wonderland, a role he was previously rumored to be attached to.

Mia Wasikowska and Matt Lucas have already signed on for the project, which Tim Burton will direct from Linda Woolverton's script. It is said that the film will combine live-action and motion-capture footage, much like Beowulf did.

The film will begin principal photography in November, with a release date currently set for March 5, 2010.

Yeah, I predicted this when I thought of who the most eccentric character from Alice in Wonderland would be, and then once I heard Tim Burton would be adapting it, I knew right away he'd cast Depp as the Mad Hatter.

A much shorter role for Depp compared to his recent work with Burton, but maybe it's for the best.

Shit. This is what all those dregs who shop at hot topic will be wearing next year, because it's "arcane" and cool to like Lewis Carroll now that Tim Burton is connected to him.
This film will be a blast, don't get me wrong, but I fucking detest the crowd it draws.

Burton and Depp always deliver..and im pretty sure depp pretends to be the mad hatter in his spare time, i doubt hell have to "prepare" for the role in any way
