Warner Bros. has just released the first trailer for the upcoming blockbuster,
Sherlock Holmes, which is set for release on December 25. Click below to take a look at this new trailer for yourself.
Guy Ritchie has come aboard to direct, based on Lionel Wigram's upcoming comic book
Sherlock Holmes.
The logline remains under wraps, but executives at Warners are aiming to reinvent Holmes and sidekick Dr. John H. Watson. Wigram's noted that the new Holmes would be more adventuresome and take advantage of his skills as a boxer and swordsman.
Sherlock Holmes, which stars Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, Rachel McAdams and Mark Strong, will be released in theaters nationwide on December 25.

This is something RITCHIE will learn, but probably not with this firecracker-turd. RITCHIE has lost any artistic credibility he had.
I'm shocked at how many people on this board are attracted to this trailer.
And I do agree that they are very much capitalizing on the fact that Downey is the lead. He's the big draw for a film that might otherwise be ignored. Campy? Probably. Guy Ritchie-ized? Yeah absolutely. BUT I still want to see it!
This trailer looks ridiculous!
Star Trek stayed truly faithful to the actual original 1960s series. It also had quite an entertaining ploty with dazzling effects.
Sherlock Holmes is not known for the things described within this film, occults, dead rising, ghosts, boxing. It just seems that Ritchie is trying to add his usual Gangster conventional style to this and well, it doesn't work. Because that Sherlock is a detective, not a gangster style detectove and London looks too modern, that this film seems actionative but laughable at the same time.
It seems like they are trying to possibly put as much action into this as they can to create a USP alongside with the simple fact that Downey is in the main role.
As for the drugs it's well known that Holmes had a coke habit. They even referred to his addiction in the movie "The Seven-Per-Cent Solution" (1976) with Nicol Williamson.
But you see the problem they will have with this is how many people actually know that little tidbit of information.
They are publicily aware of the major Sherlock stories.
And i think were ever you copy and pasted that info from PACK, i think the drug habit part they were describing Downey not sherlock.
RITCHIE was original with LOCK'STOCK, and improved it SNATCH, but they were still the same movie. Since then he has only proved he can play the same tired note over again. They are all stylized, over-narrated,cliched brit-gangsters, with interlaced stories of characters no one cares about!
I don't care about the books of SHERLOCK HOLMES, i still think this looks ridiculous! It's looks like slapstick comedy, brit-gangsters, explosive action, martial art action! What a mess this film will be!
Ritchie just DIRECT and STOP WRITTING! The producers need a good ol' fashioned pineapple rape for wasting money on this!
Holmes himself "rose from the dead" after his battle with Moriarty at Reichenbach Falls. And if we want to stretch for ties to the occult, there is always the short story collection "Shadows over Baker Street" - check it out.
So "re-inventing" Holmes as an action hero is not that great a leap. Downey has the acting chops, self-deprecating humor and action cred (Iron Man) to pull it off. I say bring it on!
NOPE, its that. I seem to be pretty Fine. LOL.
Well this take looks completely utterly fing wrong and its pissed all over my crumpets so to speak in such typical English manner.
This will get demolished by critics.
Occults, boxing, rising dead, ghosts and Sherlock Holmes not even uwe boll is stupid enough to create a combination like that.
The director & screenwriter of this film needs to slapped with a fish and then have chips thrown over them with Malt vinegar.
I reckon for this they should have got
Clive Owen for Sherlock
&
Phillip Seymour Hoffman for Watson.
You can't recreate a classic, especially a piece of literature. its like putting the 3 muskateers in Iraq right now...It doesn't work
It looks like an corny action flick posed to look like its set in victorian times.
I'll admit it looks like a good action flick, but associating that atrocity to Sherlock Holmes is a crime.
I don't remember Sherlock Holmes dealing with supernatural occults trying to bring back the dead or saving the end of the world.
Guy Ritchie is only good when it comes to typical british gangster flicks.
It just looks like they've tried to reinvent something that is a classic literacy character and trie dputting him somewhere between his original time (Victorian) to the modern day.
Which doesn't blend well.
And i would have preferred a proper british actor for Holmes, not RDJ, despite how talented he is
And watson is meant to be quite tubby, not slim and slender, which i think Phillip Seymour Hoffman would have been a brilliant Watson.
My guess is that you lot are so infatuated by RDJ probably due to his performance in Iron Man, that you can't see how atrocious this movie really is.
comical, with some action but god damn fucking awful to be called Sherlock Holmes.
Since when did Sherlock Holmes deal with the occult and the end of the world.
Looks to be one of his worst movie yet.
People will still see this crap for RDJ though
I'll check it out.
