While visiting the set of Adam McKay's new film
Step Brothers, which stars Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly, we got a chance to chat with Will about the upcoming big screen adaptation of the classic Sid & Marty Krofft Saturday morning television series
Land of the Lost.
Here's what he had to say about the film:
You said that you had an idea for Anchorman 2, where the gang goes abroad and becomes foreign correspondents. Is that going to become a reality? Will Ferrell: No. Not as of yet. We wont be doing that. I don't think.
Did Land of the Lost come about because of your character's name in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back? Will Ferrell: That was just a random thing. Completely. I just happened to work with the same management that has the rights to Sid & Marty Krofft's project.
What is your approach going to be on that film? Will Ferrell: It's going to be very serious. Its going to be kind of in the same tone as
The English Patient. But with dinosaurs. Horribly, frighteningly realistic dinosaurs. In fact, we only survive for twelve minutes in the movie. The rest is just action shots of dinosaurs. And communicating with Sleestaks. It's going to be more like a nature documentary. No. Its going to be like
Jurassic Park in terms of quality. It's going to be as real as possible, while still being funny.
Step Brothers opens July 25th, 2008.

As to Farrell, well let's just say it here and now, he's a bit like William Shatner, a one dimensional actor, not a bad guy just, flat, w/o flair. And the fact that this Rick Marshall will have a "love interest" sickens me; and not to mention there has beens NO MENTION of "Will and Holly" unless of course that's the name of his "love interest."
*goes off babbling...they are gonna to ruin this movie...I just know it...* Ferrell has NO CLUE what this show is all about or how to play this character!!! In fact it looks like the only people this movie is going to appeal too are those 90s kids who don't have a clue as to what GOOD television was like in the late 70s though the end of the 80s!!!
