Spike Lee Shooting Passing Strange for Cable

Source:  Variety
Spike Lee has decided to film the Broadway play Passing Starnge for air on cable later this year. According to Variety, the famous director has decided to shoot the play three times. Twice with an audience, and once without. Though Passing Strange has been highly praised, ticket sales have been low. Lee hopes that capturing it on film will help it along in its struggle to get noticed.

The show's producers are the one's financing the shoot. They will later have Lee's work edited and will then air it on a unspecified cable channel sometime in the near future. The plot of this musical revolves around a middle-class musician that flees to Amsterdam to find himself. The show originally bowed in 2006.

Shooting dates have not been announced at this time, but more details about the project will be revealed on July 9th.
