Anyone who worried that
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe was dead in the water no longer need worry. The film has acquired itself a director, according to a source at
Latino Review, and that director is none other than John Stevenson, the director of
Kung Fu Panda.
By all accounts, Stevenson went to producer Joel Silver and gave an amazing presentation about how he would handle the material, and Silver offered him the job. This comes less than a month after the project was declared "dead" and it was stated that no one at the studio had a handle on how to approach the idea.
The script, written by Justin Marks, attempts to take the 1980s cartoon and recreate it with a sense of wonder and excitement, but taking a harder, more realistic tone at the same time. Details of the plot remain unknown, but expect
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe to involve He-Man and his allies taking on Skeletor and his minions as the skull-faced villain tries to steal the power hidden within Castle Greyskull.

never the less, its one of those movies that screams 80's, and is pretty much a total corn-fiesta.
my disinterest in this movie has nothing to do with the original though, it has everything to do with the fact that he-man is lame and the movie will suck.
"i have the power!"
lame. suck.
Ohh, & Courteney Cox starred in it...way before "Friends"!
i think you mean "grade-A", you know, like the eggs.
i dont think anyone takes the idea of a he-man movie that seriously which is probably why it almost got shelved to begin with. they'll be lucky to get a decent amount of money to make this movie, it'll probably turn out like dragonball looks like it's gonna turn out.
don't you mean "hope"?
i can't see any way this will turn out to have been a good idea. unless it's an r-rated violence-laden not-for-kids fantasy gorefest starring rutger hauer as skeletor im pretty sure itll be bad.
itll probably star robert pattinson and zach efron or some other equally deplorable teeny bopper talentless retards and cause brain hemorraging upon viewing... of course people tell me im a cynic so maybe im just being pessemistic.
