Christian Bale: To Terminate, or Not To Terminate in Terminator 4?

Source:  Ain't It Cool News, CHUD
Movie PictureAccording to Ain't It Cool News, Christian Bale (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight) has been cast as John Connor in Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins. However, according to CHUD, Bale has been cast as the Terminator.

Which is right? We'll, perhaps neither. According to trusted sources close to MovieWeb, Bale is in talks (not officially cast) to play a character that is NOT John Connor (as Connor may not appear in the film). But is he playing a Terminator? Let's just say CHUD may only be half right...

Stay tuned as we get this clarified, real soon.

he could pull it off being John Connor I think he could do it I do know what you mean though he does a good psycho. He could definately be a good Terminator not like Arnold he just owns that role forever

Christian Bale is a very good actor but he fairs on perfectly when he plays a soul-less psychopath in any film than he would playing Terminator. Honestly, Anorld is the only guy that would play the Terminator perfectly, so I absolutely agree that Bale be cast in some homicidal and mind bending movie because he just shines in such roles. He wouldn't even be good if he was cast in a comedy coz' he has this persona that just suits psychotic thrillers! Mary Harron did him well when he cast him in the role for the wealthy New York executive investor with a split personality in American Psycho. ~Normal by day and a complete homicidal maniac by night!!!!

I think it will do something like that as well. I think thats when Arnold would be brought back. They would show the terminators discussing sending one back and then Arnold appears. Bale could pull any role off, he is a great actor. But this role should belong to Arnold. It is his role and he has always been very successful as the Terminator.

Three movies are planned to show the war between Skynet and humanity led by John Connor?
Bets are now being taken on how the third movie ends.
My guess is that the machines will be taking it in the shorts and decide to send a Terminator back in time to kill John Connor's mother.
Round and round she goes and where she stops nobody knows! :)

havin read other ppls comments, i can't believe i forgot about the t-1000?! not big at all but defo scary! Bale could pull it off, as either i suppose, but it'll all depend on the director and the how dark n gritty it'll be. doesn't help that the new name is gay, fuck it, make the new terminator gay, it'll certainly alter the franchise and surprise the fan base, n loose most of it to lol!

ok Christian Bale is prolly my favorite actor, but he is not the part of the terminator. Maybe as the Father of John Connor...Reese....but Arnold needs to be the Terminator and James Cameron needs to be on this film or at least the director needs to be discussing every move in this movie ith him.

AN ARTICLE I FOUND STATES:
The fourth installment of the 'Terminator' series is being helmed by 'Charlie's Angels' director McG and is due to start filming early next year.
McG hopes the movie will be the first of a new 'Terminator' trilogy set in the future, telling the story of the war between humans and the Skynet robots.
JUST SOUNDS LIKE A RETREAD AKA RECAP!
& what kind of name is McG?? With a name like that can he really be taken sirously?? 'Charlie's Angels' was ok, not that great just a huge music video!

Christian Bale as John Connor?? I love Christian Bale but this is soooooo wrong!! With out James Cameron, Arnold Schwarzenegger &/Or Linda Hamilton this is not going to be good. Not even Christian Bale can save this!! I love you Christian Bale, but please run...fast and don't sell out to the Hollywood system!

This movie is going to suck. McG is one of the worst directors ever. It does not matter who plays in this movie, with McG directing it has no chance what-so-ever of being even a decent guilty pleasure type of movie. McG directed movies equal shit

I don't want to see just one main terminator.I want to see more of a human based story with them battleing to stay alive while the terminators want to kill them all.The one terminator trying to kill has been played out.

CUPIDODRE, no one is suggesting that the new Terminator actually be someone else acting as Arnold's character. There have always been different models and different styles of Terminators throughout the series. That's what makes it work.

Actually from what I have heard, there is a traitor amogst the mix which is a pivotal part to the new trillogy. A survivor who is recruited into the Resistance but then betrays Connor. Now put that information with the statement above "Chud may only be half right", well it looks like it just may be true and that that character could possibly be Bale. Either way having Bale a part of these films is only a positive thing. As for him playing John Connor or a Terminator, well if that's the case then thats alright in my book. He's a talented guy and I'm sure he will do a good job at whatever role he lands.

It does matter how the terminator looks cuz if someone his to take over the role after Arnol that person has to look somewhat like him.We all know Arnol was never and actor but and action star but it does matter how the treminator looks.

Why does someone have to be well-muscled to play a Terminator? It's a r-o-b-o-t, which means its strength has nothing to do with muscle. Look at Robert Patrick, who was the best Terminator in the series, he wasn't ripped like Arnold. For that matter, I think T3 showed that it doesn't matter what a Terminator looks like, it just matters what it can do.

They said the film is based around a secondary character that is living the war between the machines as john connor leads them.Maybe he's playing that guy.

I see some people saying he's not big enough, or strong enough, or what ever else to be a Terminator. Well, let me think... he's bigger, and probably better fit than the guy who played the T-1000, who I might add is considered one of better villian to come around in the last 20 years. In addition, the machines are supposed to blend in with humans, so if you ask me (from a story telling standpoint) Arnold ws the worst possible choise (screenwise, he was perfect for the role). So tell me again why Bail can't be a Terminator.

interesting, very interesting! i think he'd be better as john connor, i don't think he's big enough to play the terminator, unless he can learn a martial art and be a bruce lee style terminator?! who knows
