Another interesting rumor is making the rounds today. According to
Spielberg News, which was translated by
Bloody Disgusting, Josh Brolin is currently in talks to star as Snake Plissken in the upcoming remake of
Escape From New York. As you all know, he would be stepping in for Kurt Russell, who has played the role in two previous John Carpenter directed outings.
Spielberg News states, "A source close to the production (if so) has assured us that it is now Josh Brolin to be in the running to take over the role of Snake Plissken in the remake currently in draft New York 1997." (Blame the faulty English on the fact that this is coming from a French source.)
As noted by
Bloody Disgusting, the film was originally supposed to be directed by Lin Wiseman but he walked away from the project last October. The film does not currently have a set start date.

are you implying that he would need to hone his skills to compare to captain ron? as beloved as kurt russel may be, the guy isnt exactly academy award material, hes just a funny overly confident likeable guy with a huge head.
josh brolin is an actual bonafide "good" actor, where as russel is just an entertaining guy to watch, so suck it, douchebag.
BUT!! they are going to do it either way. so all you can hope is that the people behind it pick actors who you might think can do it justice. all this whining about re-makes gets you no-where, i don't bother with M/W that much anymore cause anytime i do it's full of people with pointless complaints abo0ut things that you nor i can change/fix!...... "movieweb fans powerfull in hollywood" ..... my ass we are!
I'm soirry but do we "REALLY" need another 1/2 ass Re-Make of a great cult film "Escape From New York"...?? This is the dumbest idea right next to "Friday the 13"!
I'm sorry but Kurt Russell will be, and always will be Snake Plissken!
