In a story from
The Hollywood Reporter, UTA has picked up the superhero property
Voltron and its U.S. rights-holder World Events Productions as clients.
The hope is that UTA can bring the anime-based lion-robot property into several platforms. UTA wants to put together a deal on an animated cable series, as well as video game and toy deals.
Voltron was just put together as a feature by Charles Roven's Atlas Entertainment and Jason Netter's Kickstart Productions. UTA plans to bring on a writer and then shop the project to studios.
The pitch for the
Voltron movie is "expected to include the idea that, unlike other toy brands, Voltron -- in which five robot lions piloted by humans become a giant warrior -- allows for human-centric stories."

I was a fan of this as much as Transformers, but I always got bored when the came to the end. I was like, Okay, slice the Robeast and get it over with. Sometimes I switched off before they did it. But unlike Transformers, which is American animated, which originated in Japan, Voltron was a Japanese animated show, with Japanese points of view as well as mannerisms injected into it's characters.
The MMPR is also a Japanese filmed and dubbed series imported by Saban Entertainment, which is edited for America, with the American actors we have come to know. When we see the masked Rangers fighting regular sized monsters, those are actually Japanese martial artists and stunt people. And that's why Rita Repulsa is Asian. She doesn't wear a mask, so we can see her face. If we could see the faces of the monsters, they would be Asian actors also. And ever notice how Rita's mouth doesn't match what she's saying? Because the English is dubbed over her Japanese.
And Robotech is awesome. Definitely an cool mech world. Wasn't a movie supposed to be made about that soon?
I used to have the large plastic figure of Voltron. The one that separated and was about two feet tall. It got lost somewhere in my parent's house years ago. I think a semi-friend might have lifted it from me. I mean one day it was there and next it was gone. I wonder what that would cost from ebay?
robotech
i forgot
I can't believe I forgot RoboTech!
Surpasses all the below mentioned!
I've got the whole series, imported! :P
Love the cast Van.
But you mofos, left out ROBOTECH!!! :D
awesome list
they should really team up with dreamworks and paramount cause if they created good transformewrs for both, voltron can be done just as good
They better do this right and not half-assed and slap the Voltron label on it. They better not do it like Speed Racer, with all of that dizzying "Spy Kids" CGI environment and background. And hopefully they don't have all of these extra useless parts that stick out of his body like Bay did with Transformers.
My suggestion for actors:
Keith- James Mcavoy
Lance- Chris Pine
Princess Allura- Anna Sophia Robb
Hunk- Jonah Hill
Pidge-Daniel Radcliff
Sven- Stephen Dorff
Coran- Colin Firth
Nanny- Nia Vardalos
King Alfor- Patrick Stewart, Michael Caine, or John Hurt.
Lotor- Hugo Weaving.
Zarkon- Vin Diesel.
Hagar- Cate Blanchett.
Transformers, Thundercats, and Voltron, were the coolest. The only problem with Voltron, is like Remy said, They always ended up doing the same thing, which is what The Power Rangers did. Coming together at the end and killing the Robeasts in a one on one battle, showing the same movements and actions. I hope they avoid that altogether.
Unless they mean human, meaning emotional and actually deep story lines, in which case I am more than open too.
