UPDATE: Sylvester Stallone Not Making Rocky 7

Source:  Teen Say, CHUD
Sylvester Stallone to Make Rocky 7?According to Teen Say, Sylvester Stallone is planning on getting back in the ring with Rocky 7 once he finishes making Rambo V: A Savage Hunt.

The actor had this to say about the prospects of another Rocky film:

"I know I'll probably make a fool of myself if I make another 'Rocky' film after turning 60. I also know there's gonna be a lot of criticism. Even my wife says, 'Don't do it. You're embarrassing the kids'. But I told her, 'If I don't try I'll be a really unhappy man.'

Despite all this, Stallone seems to have a lighthearted mindset about Rocky 7:

"I know it's ludicrous and everyone would laugh. I would laugh about it. But I also know that I'd be successful if I can make this a film about becoming older, not about boxing but about myself."

UPDATE: 10/26/09 3:30 PM PST CHUD is now reporting that the Stallone's responses were actually referring to Rocky Balboa and not a new film.

Thanks to some European Chewers on our message board, we have learned that the translations making the web right now are wrong. It seems as though in the interview Stallone is talking in the past tense about Rocky Balboa and not a Rocky 7. Don't trust Babelfish for your translations, I guess.

I say do it stallone, with the exception of the fifth rocky, they have been entertaining, so a seventh would be cool.

He's got a point though. #6 brought the character back and rounded off the story after a 16yr hiatus from the series, and a 7th would not only just be a sequel to the comeback (#6), but it'd be more mockable as Stallone said as he's now 63yrs old, and the way "The Expendables" is looking, I bet he'll be near the end of his run after that seeing as the movie looks like a montage of the biggest names in action.

Ok well it was a good discussion anyway, and Movieweb is just doing their job and posting news, just like all the other movies sites did.

LOL, hey SupermanEmpiredude, I already knew about Rocky trying to train the Tommy boxer, ease up on your frothy assumptions.

Like I said below, the natural progression for Rocky's character is to be in a coaching/mentoring capacity for a rising contender. Just because other elements of Rocky5 didn't jell, doesn't mean that new screenwriting, direction & casting couldn't pull off the coaching angle, say, in a dramatic tone similiar to Million Dollar Baby for example. Just to be clear for the literal-minded, I'm not saying have him train a woman, I'm saying the dramatic Tone of that movie could work quite well for Rocky7...the new contender would need a shared background so that he & Rocky could relate, but, in addition the new boxer would have his own issues to work through...together, they could portray the mirror & contrast character models well...all underscoring the believe in yourself motif that runs through all of the Rocky movies.

While I think he should have quit while on top, he could turn the Rocky films around...but rambo 5? no

I have heard that Rambo 5 was going into a Alien area. That Alien tech was used to make a super soldier, and he goes rambo 1,lol. And so they bring rambo in to help stop him. Sounds stupid. I hope for more a realistic approach myself. Say a terrist occuaption of a small town, in which he is in. Now that sounds good.

I think the manager thing is what he is going for, it would seem that way anyway, but @ least he is admitting that he would look lik a fool, lol, well we shall see what happens, lets worry about Rambo 5 first

Are you Fucking kidding me!!!!

But a Manager Rocky is the only place this character can go from here and be good if they do it right this time. He held his own aginst the heavey weight champ in Balboa, being over weight and aged. Now he could open a Boxing Gym, and train and manage a new character for a spin off.. thats about all that you can do.

October 26th, 2009 11:35am
As it has been said, Sly did the manager role in Rocky 5, to a horrirific stance. When Balboa came out, everyone said no, Rocky was done, so why? Well I can see him doing another Manager type Rocky this time but it would, and should lead to a spin off character. The next Rocky character, say a extention of Rocky. What could have been if they didnt "F" up 5. You could have a sports show on tv in the movie, like The Best Damn Sports Show used to be like with Hulk, Mr T, and Drago,, doing stuff about Rocky being a Manager to a huge star. lol

LOL, hey AnnoyingFilmdude....the storyline you just described was Rocky 5 "Maybe his character is finally a coach to a rising hopeful, that would seem like the natural progression"...or did you somehow miss that annoying piece of shit film that featured characters like Tommy Gun...I'll take a quote from this classic piece of cinema "beat that bum dad, HE TOOK MY ROOM" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Stallone, if you do this every shread of dignity you have left, every ounce of fandom for this series will dissapear never to be seen again. You took some sting of from part 5 when you gave us the 6th and final installment and did the ending the proper justice...I'll take a quote from Rocky 2, "Let it go champ, let it go" heed your own words Sly, don't fucken touch the Rocky character again.

October 26th, 2009 10:24am
Like he said, if this film is really about himself at this later point, being character driven, then a good story could carry Rocky7. Maybe his character is finally a coach to a rising hopeful, that would seem like the natural progression.

Can't be true. Rocky Balboa ended everything so well. The story arc, at least the way I see it it's finished, pushing it would be stupid.

After the 5th film, I lost interest. Do something else for crying out loud, revisit Demolition Man or anything else. Just don't go back and revisit Rocky or Rambo just leave on a high note.

Next thing we know Lou would be returning as the Incredible Hulk.

October 26th, 2009 6:34am
Yes Stallone is awesome but I'd rather he kept making Rambo movies than another Rocky. Rocky Balboa ended the series on a high note, lets leave it that way.

I admire him for wanting to do this. Though I don't think it is needed but I love how he will do something that makes him happy even though he knows he might be bashed for it. Go Stallone!

Sylvester Stallone our own old aged hero that's still in good shape. If this was like 3000 years ago, he would probably be an axe wielding hero of some sort.

October 26th, 2009 2:43am
NO. But I don't think he won't do it either. I hope not.Rockey is finished story and in Rocky 6 we saw old boxer already. "No need for the silly games..."

Its gonna be good. Just like the last one. I say do it.

October 26th, 2009 12:46am
i say do it. the last one was purely amazing on how the story carried on. and after that he did another Rambo. in my opinion he hasn't lost his touch. Meaning in what the fans truly want. i say go ahead and do it. i will be their opening day waiting. and after this Rambo movie comes out and proves what Ive said. I want an apology from the skeptics
  (Delete)
October 26th, 2009 12:31am
this is fucking stupid. He clearly made it look like at the end that this was his last fight and he's done for good. What a moron.
