UPDATE: Sylvester Stallone Not Making Rocky 7
October 26th, 2009

Sylvester Stallone to Make Rocky 7?
The actor had this to say about the prospects of another Rocky film:
"I know I'll probably make a fool of myself if I make another 'Rocky' film after turning 60. I also know there's gonna be a lot of criticism. Even my wife says, 'Don't do it. You're embarrassing the kids'. But I told her, 'If I don't try I'll be a really unhappy man.'
Despite all this, Stallone seems to have a lighthearted mindset about Rocky 7:
"I know it's ludicrous and everyone would laugh. I would laugh about it. But I also know that I'd be successful if I can make this a film about becoming older, not about boxing but about myself."
UPDATE: 10/26/09 3:30 PM PSTCHUD is now reporting that the Stallone's responses were actually referring to Rocky Balboa and not a new film.
Thanks to some European Chewers on our message board, we have learned that the translations making the web right now are wrong. It seems as though in the interview Stallone is talking in the past tense about Rocky Balboa and not a Rocky 7. Don't trust Babelfish for your translations, I guess.

Like I said below, the natural progression for Rocky's character is to be in a coaching/mentoring capacity for a rising contender. Just because other elements of Rocky5 didn't jell, doesn't mean that new screenwriting, direction & casting couldn't pull off the coaching angle, say, in a dramatic tone similiar to Million Dollar Baby for example. Just to be clear for the literal-minded, I'm not saying have him train a woman, I'm saying the dramatic Tone of that movie could work quite well for Rocky7...the new contender would need a shared background so that he & Rocky could relate, but, in addition the new boxer would have his own issues to work through...together, they could portray the mirror & contrast character models well...all underscoring the believe in yourself motif that runs through all of the Rocky movies.
The Demolition Man sequel is long overdue, Snipes gotta eat!
Next thing we know Lou would be returning as the Incredible Hulk.
