It seems that a new sci-fi prequel may indeed be gearing up for production.
IESB was on the red-carpet of the Tempe, AZ premiere of
X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and the site caught up to Fox co-chairman Tom Rothman, who had some interesting things to say about a prequel film to
Alien.
"There's been some talk. Ridley Scott, Ridley is right now working on Robin Hood, but I think he's toying with the idea and that would be great for us. I mean, it's always been a matter of, really, if you can get the originator to do it that would be the greatest thing, so I've got my fingers crossed, all of them."

and "X4: Origins: Wolverine" was premiered in Tempe, AZ??? Bizarre choice. I've been there countless times visiting relatives over the past 20yrs, and there's not much amazing about it.
Personally, I've enjoyed every single film even the AVP films, I just think that there needs to be a better script and a better writer.
The last Bond film was rushed, most action or horror films are rushed and that needs to stop. It's high time that Hollywood needs to get better at choosing directors, like actors.
ALIEN - the discovery
ALIENS - the war
ALIEN 3 - the survival, no weapons, just wits.
ALIEN RESURRECTION - the hybrid. Hybrid of the creature, the android and the story. weakest of all but still entertaining.
NO PREQUEL, just do a really good SEQUEL!
What could a PREQUEL possibly have...the college life of the astronauts? LEAVE IT ALONE!
ALIENS was one of the coolest franchises ever...and now thanks to ALIEN vs PREDATORS its' been shot to shit! Just leave it alone!
what do you all think? let me know
"Who do I have to f--- to get off this ship?"
"Must be a chick thing."
"Ripley? I thought you were dead."
"Yeah, I get that a lot."
You know there was once an article that Cameron & Scott were teaming up for Aliens 5.
I concur with Happyjack, i don't nesscearily believe that the Alien franchise needs a prequel, but heck we can't stop it if it goes through just pray it goes into pre-production hell like Aliens 5 did.
Nathan, you pull a good point. But either Scott or Cameron would fit this project. Cameron would probably try and make it big budget, like he has been doing with his 2 previous movies.
If it goes through, i see Scott either directing or some how on production side, probably a producer.
I doubt Cameron would since he has stated that Avatar could be the first of a trilogy, if its a success and then after Avatar he has stated he may be doing a film adaptation to Battle Angel Alita, which i would love to see Cameron's envisionment of it.
Best direction i would wants to see for this, if it gets off, a team-up between both directors. Possibly something like Cameron writing the script and Scott directing, and both producing so they can place their names above the title.
Ridley Scott & James Cameron Present.
Just thinking top of the head though
Another option is to make AVP3 based off on the first videogame, so with THE FUCKING COLONIAL MARINES THAT WE'RE NOT SEEING FROM THE FUCKING 80'S!!!
You do know they actually intended to follow that story line after Resurrection?
But apparently because Resurrection was so badly received, the film was halted and has been in production hell ever since.
You probably read articles about Alien 5 was meant to be set on Earth, in which they were intended to actually follow the story. Cameron even wrote the script before he wrote the first draft to his own version of spiderman
