Leonard Nimoy Doesn't Think He'll Return for Star Trek 2
November 18th, 2009
With J.J. Abrams' Star Trek arriving on DVD and Blu-ray this week, the actors and creators hit the red carpet to celebrate the release. One of the people we got a chance to chat with was Leonard Nimoy, who, of course, plays Spock Prime in the film. The actor told us he was excited to appear in this new incarnation of the franchise, but doubts he will return for a sequel."I am very happy with the direction J.J. took this particular film. He has a great cast, and he's in great shape. I was fortunate enough to work with an exceptional group of actors, and the fans really seemed to enjoy the film." He continued by telling us, "I don't think there is room for me to return in a sequel. I don't think they need me. I am happy to see Zachary continue on with the role. I don't believe a second film would benefit from me being a part of it. If J.J. asked me to come back, I would consider it. But I don't think it is necessary, nor do I think that is part of J.J.'s plan."
Nimoy also recently worked with J.J. on the Fox series Fringe. He shot three episodes for season two, two of which have already aired. When asked about his character William Bell, Nimoy told us, "I have no plans to return in the near future." Does that mean we've seen the last of the ominous Bell? "We'll have to wait and see."

he shouldn't have even been in the FIRST one!
The movie was good, and so is nimoy but the time travel double was a little cheesy.
Since the producers went in a new direction & retelling the series, they need to 'separate' the former actors with the NEW CHARACTERS.
Cameo's are fine but not when they are connected to the older movies SO directly. It's like having Jack Nicholson as a Mob boss in the next batman film would work, but not with a JOKER connection!
