Harold Ramis Gives a Ghostbusters 3 Update

Source:  MTV
It seems that we'll be calling a whole new crop of Ghostbusters in the upcoming sequel. MTV recently caught up with actor/director Harold Ramis who revealed that there will be a new group of actors in Ghostbusters 3.

Ramis promised that all the old core players will take part in the updated version, including Bill Murray (Dr. Peter Venkman) and Dan Aykroyd (Dr. Raymond Stantz), who co-wrote the original films. "We're all going to be in it in different kinds of roles," Ramis said. "We're going to be the sage mentors. There are going to be young Ghostbusters."

At the moment, Ramis is waiting on a first draft of the script, which is being penned by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, two writer/producers on "The Office," who also wrote "Year One." "Gene and Lee, both of whom I mentored, are now writing the new 'Ghostbusters,' " Ramis said. "I'm consulting with them, as is Dan Aykroyd and [original director] Ivan Reitman.

"Bill Murray is just waiting for the truckload of money to arrive to get him out of his office," Ramis joked.

Why don't they bring back the character of Oscar? After all it would be fitting because he's been involved with supernatural doings since before he could talk and walk and it just seems like he would do as one of the people to take over. As for who should play him, find the original twins and have one or both of them play him. Justin Long might be a good fit because he has that nervous/smartass sense of humor that Bill had in the originals. Don't think Seth Rogen should be in it. He has a different comedy style. The moron comic. Maybe Ryan Reynolds could fit in somewheres as well....

I wonder how long Dan and Harold have been thinking about this movie lol. It's been a long time haha. I just don't understand why they didn't make one 10 years ago. Studios didn't think it would sell or something?

as long as it's NEW characters i think it will be good. The new characters should have some connection to the originals (sons, nephew's, friends). The Bill & Dan being there as mentors will also be a good twist.

As much as the Ghostbusters is a comedy, they are serious most of the time, which wouldn't work for Seth or Jack Black at all. They would ruin it. James Franco is the only actor out of them that can actually "act" lol. I like Paul Rudd I think he is hilarious but not as a Ghostbuster. I'd rather have him than Seth or Jack though.

No doubt Diaigma, using a Nintendo joystick to drive The Statue of Liberty. Also Rambo and Terminator 3.

LOL. My favorite lines from Ramis were from # 2 as well.

"Let's see what happens when we take away the puppy."
"I had part of a slinky, but I straightened it."

To Answer Nate, # 2 apparently did so "bad" that all members involved decided to call it quits. I quote "bad" because, as an 8 yr old at the time, I thought it was an awesome movie, even creepier than the first, but it lacked adult material that # 1 had, and apparently, the critics hated it because it was more "kid" oriented, never mind that The Real Ghostbusters, the hit Saturday morning show of the 80's, created a huge following among kids, myself included. Just like Indy Jones 4, this should have been made 10 years ago!

Why do they wait so long to make a sequel? That's why they have to come up with a new cast because there so damn old now. They probably can't even hold there proton packs on there backs anymore.

No one from Apatow should be apart of this. It's Ghostbusters, not a smoking weed comedy. They are completely different styles of comedy, both are good, but they way different from each other.
