Kevin Spacey isn't done with the role of Lex Luthor - at least not if he has anything to say about it. The Academy Award-winning actor told
Monsters and Critics that he would like to return to the role he played in
Superman Returns in the talked about
Superman: The Man of Steel.
Spacey said:
I believe they are in talks at the moment. I have actually already signed up to do it. So if they decide to go ahead with it and they still want me, then I will definitely be in it.
Spacey added that he took the role because of his desire to work with director Bryan Singer again, who he had previously worked on in
The Usual Suspects. "I think he is an absolute genius," Spacey said.
Brandon Routh, who played Superman in the film, is also excited about returning to the role of the Man of Steel. "I'm certainly excited to do another one," Routh said. "I don't think we'll start for a while since we have a 2009 release, but I'm definitely excited about the potential."

LOL LOL LOL LOL!!!
But i don't see any Superman's son in the comic book and where the hell Singer got the idea from?....
Tell me...
at any rate youre both right, in my opinion, fucking with supermans kin would be a great way to start a fight with the guy.
i picture it as lex with two other alien baddies darkseid and braniac, all three about to combain powers to kill superman in order to spare his son. When help arrives in the form of green lantern who with his help is able to free his son and with his son safe then superman releases a rage of biblical scope like any father would only to be kept in check by green lantern. which would lead into the justice league movie quite nicely.
Now before we all get on the barking list against Superman Returns, I wasn't overly impressed with it. That being said I also didn't hate it.
Singer is just one of those people I have to trust with Superman. He did fine by me with XMen and though he didn't put out the best Superman movie, I can forgive him considering the work he has done in the past. He is also a big geek and I would hope that he learns from his mistakes.
So with Singer moving forward, Routh almost a sure thing to play Supes, and all of our hopes that a Superman sequel wont suck, Singer has just one thing to do to make it all right.
Do everything different.
1. Get rid of superkid. No really. Kill the kid. Make this the driving force that tempts Superman's morals. What happens when you piss off the most powerful superhero ever? Will he kill out of rage? Vengence?
2. Get us a superpowered badguy I like Lex as much as anyone. He is an awesome villain - no doubt. But lets have Superman face someone that makes him flinch.
3. Action We need a LOT of action. Have superman stop a meteor shower from colliding with earth. Just kicking the shit out of every last rock, tearing his outfit up, slapping him around. Save the world dammit. And do that before the opening credits. Then do better for the rest of the movie.
4. Get over Lois I know its the archetype of the character, but for ONE MOVIE lets not have Superman be smitten to a flaw and distracted by it. Let him be distracted by his own conflict that drives his character. "You can't save them all". That is more of a cornerstone of the Superman persona than anything. It defines him and he has to live with it every day. All this power and STILL people suffer.
So Mr Singer, I hope you are reading this. (Don't all movie writers read this site?? Why not??)
Whoa, sorry for such a long post. I guess I just had a rant.

Plus the inevitable robot-head-being-ripped-off-and-thrown-into-space-action.
what i am thinking is... I hope they take the focus off of Luthor. They've made 4 Superman movies now and he's been in all but one of them. Is that really necessary? Imagine if we had received 5 Batman movies all with the Joker. It's nuts. what u think? i really like to have lex in Sup. but u know what i am sayin?
