Kevin Spacey Signed for Superman: The Man of Steel

Source:  Monsters and Critics
Movie PictureKevin Spacey isn't done with the role of Lex Luthor - at least not if he has anything to say about it. The Academy Award-winning actor told Monsters and Critics that he would like to return to the role he played in Superman Returns in the talked about Superman: The Man of Steel.

Spacey said:

I believe they are in talks at the moment. I have actually already signed up to do it. So if they decide to go ahead with it and they still want me, then I will definitely be in it.

Spacey added that he took the role because of his desire to work with director Bryan Singer again, who he had previously worked on in The Usual Suspects. "I think he is an absolute genius," Spacey said.

Brandon Routh, who played Superman in the film, is also excited about returning to the role of the Man of Steel. "I'm certainly excited to do another one," Routh said. "I don't think we'll start for a while since we have a 2009 release, but I'm definitely excited about the potential."

Im tired of Luthor. Kevin Spacey was a lot better than Gene Hackman but how about Bizarro, I dont remember him as a villain...

ok get a super villain already and it will be gay cause the only thing that can hurt or stop Superman is a fucking rock that his planet is made out of how does that work super man returns was pretty good but still kinda gay fuck luthor

OMG get rid of fucking Luthor in the cinemas already!!! Superman has battled him for what? 4-5 movies now? well, maybe not SM III, but... the point being, that Superman needs A DIFFERENT VILLAIN. Let's think: Metallo, Cyborg, Mr. Mxyzptlk, or... BRAINIAC! Brainiac vs. Superman. I'd like to see that. And no Superboy.

The idea for the kid came from Superman 2. When Clark gave up his powers in the fortress so that eh could marry Lois, his mother told him he would have to live as a mortal to be with one, they were in the fortress for a while after he stepped into the chamber and lost his powers. As you know he went back to plead with them to return his powers so that he could defeat Zod, Ursa, and Non but that must be where the idea came from.

ha ha ha ha ha it is true (supermans orgasm being like a shotgun blast through lois' back has always stuck in my head) lol.

But i don't see any Superman's son in the comic book and where the hell Singer got the idea from?....

Tell me...

i dont know, i think the superkid was a bad idea to begin with, but then again the kevin smith-born concept of supermans orgasm being like a shotgun blast through lois' back has always stuck in my head, so maybe thats why.

at any rate youre both right, in my opinion, fucking with supermans kin would be a great way to start a fight with the guy.

i argee with everything you have put justinshulk, but think just the threat of killing superkid would be enough
i picture it as lex with two other alien baddies darkseid and braniac, all three about to combain powers to kill superman in order to spare his son. When help arrives in the form of green lantern who with his help is able to free his son and with his son safe then superman releases a rage of biblical scope like any father would only to be kept in check by green lantern. which would lead into the justice league movie quite nicely.

I got this post from the website so please read this and tell me what you think....

Now before we all get on the barking list against Superman Returns, I wasn't overly impressed with it. That being said I also didn't hate it.

Singer is just one of those people I have to trust with Superman. He did fine by me with XMen and though he didn't put out the best Superman movie, I can forgive him considering the work he has done in the past. He is also a big geek and I would hope that he learns from his mistakes.

So with Singer moving forward, Routh almost a sure thing to play Supes, and all of our hopes that a Superman sequel wont suck, Singer has just one thing to do to make it all right.

Do everything different.

1. Get rid of superkid. No really. Kill the kid. Make this the driving force that tempts Superman's morals. What happens when you piss off the most powerful superhero ever? Will he kill out of rage? Vengence?

2. Get us a superpowered badguy I like Lex as much as anyone. He is an awesome villain - no doubt. But lets have Superman face someone that makes him flinch.

3. Action We need a LOT of action. Have superman stop a meteor shower from colliding with earth. Just kicking the shit out of every last rock, tearing his outfit up, slapping him around. Save the world dammit. And do that before the opening credits. Then do better for the rest of the movie.

4. Get over Lois I know its the archetype of the character, but for ONE MOVIE lets not have Superman be smitten to a flaw and distracted by it. Let him be distracted by his own conflict that drives his character. "You can't save them all". That is more of a cornerstone of the Superman persona than anything. It defines him and he has to live with it every day. All this power and STILL people suffer.

So Mr Singer, I hope you are reading this. (Don't all movie writers read this site?? Why not??)

Whoa, sorry for such a long post. I guess I just had a rant.

i agree i was only fooling. i kno what the bullet time is. its used in Max Payne initially. i kno it didnt begin in the matrix. it started somewhere else.l but i kno what it is and i kno what ya meant

April 5th, 2008 5:53am
ey marcusx, wen i said 'like the matrix' I mean that the guys should use the Bullet Time as one of their techniques (if yu know what that is).not that clark should just run sideways on a wall, but we need to see those scenes which would mek us appreciate the creativity and not just 'dry' scenes.

Bizarro is an easy fit, but I so badly want to see an alien Villain. I'm pulling more and more for Braniac. Mostly because he's not inherently evil, he just lacks human ethics. It would be a good way to show Superman's relevance as a character through his seemingly arbitrary moral code.

Plus the inevitable robot-head-being-ripped-off-and-thrown-into-space-action.

During Superman Returns Luthor stabbed him with kryptonite meaning he has Superman's DNA. He can use that to create Bizarro. what u think?

April 3rd, 2008 8:58am
Hey everyone...
what i am thinking is... I hope they take the focus off of Luthor. They've made 4 Superman movies now and he's been in all but one of them. Is that really necessary? Imagine if we had received 5 Batman movies all with the Joker. It's nuts. what u think? i really like to have lex in Sup. but u know what i am sayin?
