As I said Im not a big one for watching movies and TV a lot. Just not. Though lately I have been watching stuff... LOL Seems I can watch Iron Man all the time. To me, that was a good movie. Never read Iron Man but knew just a teeny bit about it. I thought it was a great movie and I can't wait for the sequel. I also watched Fantastic 4 last night for the first time. Geez, where have I been, right? LOL Like I said, I don't watch much TV or movies. F4 was ok. I never read them (again knew just a tiny but about them) but it was an ok movie. Reeds just grosses me out there when he starts doing his stretchy stuff (shudder) LOL
And thats cool that a lot here are in or trying to get into the industry in some form or another. Barring my typos and word drops, if theres anything that I do that could be tied into the industry is; I am a writer. Not sure I'd ever want to try and tackle a movie script but if I did, thats what my 'job' would be in this industry.
So, any news bits here on the Iron Man sequel?
But yeah, this is a site filled with big movie buffs and the like. We know it's not just a director who makes a film. We know that producers make the final cut of what stays and goes. Don't like the dialogue, blame the writer. Don't like the story, blame the developers. Sounds are too generic, blame the sound guy, etc. We had a ball here a while ago when someone identified a character played by Alan Rickman and didn't know who that was. Wow. Good times :P
Not just buffs, mind you, but people involved in creating stories or working their way into the entertainment industry in one form or another. For me, novels. Ottley can tell you his, etc.
And I don't even want to start on how Star Trek fans can be. I actually gave up being a Star Trek fan to be a G1 Transformer fan. When I get into something I totally get into it and I knew I couldn't handle both LOL as dorky as that sounds. But now ST is getting the Orci/Kurtzman/(last I heard) Abrams treatment and Im not even 'accidentally' trying to find out the progress of /that/. Though I did thank Orci for screwing up one thing I loved and to make sure he butchered the other as well.
Anyway, something came out of this somehow. A neighbor asked if I knew when the new TF movie was coming out. I was like 'WHY do you ask ME this when you know how /this/ fan feels about /that/ debacle?' He was like 'Well, I liked it, my kids like it...' I was like 'June24th now shut up about and dont ask me anything about it agian.' LOL!! HOW am I still somehow keeping up with all this? GAH!! Another friend literally just just IMd me a link to a pic of that /thing/ they are calling Devastator in this... Ive heard all about the 'Fallen One'...I just can't get away from it!!!!!!!! LOL
"and you are saying my IQ should have spotted the sarcasm. Its so hard to tell with Bayformer fans. Those of you who like this movie series are very defensive about it and very insulting in your own right."
LOL. What I said there was sarcastic as well :P Sorry about that. Hang around us long enough and you'd understand how we roll :)
I was only defensive in your bashing on others for liking something, which is truly pointless. Bashing on a director and his work and how he treated the fans is one thing, but bashing on the average Joe, who may never have touched a Transformer toy in their life and saw/liked the movie, is another. I would have touched some if my brother hadn't burned them all :( And I certainly hope you're not calling ME a Baylover, cause I'm far from it, as I said before, and, as I said before, did not think much of the 1st Transformers :P I understand where you're coming from too. For example, I'm not a Trekkie, but I'm already aware of a HUGE movement of true Trek fans who are boycotting the J.J.Abrams version this May. You know, it's nice to like something, but, common guys. It's fiction. It's just a story. It doesn't really mean anything. It's for your own entertainment. Take it or leave it. That's what I do. Yes, I'm a huge fan of several things (check my profile for more), but I've yet to slip into a costume or mass giant collections, nor do I plan to. It's just stuff :P
And I'm not a big one for movies/TV at all for that matter so yea, Im not around on other movie topics here. A movie /show has to really stand out in some way to me before I take an interest in it and right now the only movie coming out any time soon that interests me is the Xmen Origins; Wolverine one.
Look, I don't hate the Transformer movies just to hate. I loathe the movies because Bay laughed at us then, laughs at us now and freely insults the fandom (least he did while the first one was in production). Bay thinks TFs are garbage. He thinks the fans are garbage. Bay decided to redesign them in ways they didn't need. The updates on everyones alternate modes were spot on. What the HELL went wrong with the 'root' modes (i.e. robot mode)???? What the HELL went wrong with their personalities? Transformers are very visual and I believe every fan will tell you how dynamic most of their personas were. I could have dealt with the seriously grade school quality script had it at least been visually entertaining and somewhat accurate to original forms. But it was absolute garbage to me. Wheres the fun in seeing 'live action' Transformers when you have NO idea who the character is you are looking at it. Or trying to look at...everything was so close up and blurry it was obvious cheap tricks to cheat on special effects that were lousy to begin with.
I hate the movie series because there of its blatant uneven nods given to one character and not the other. It again shows that Bay and his crew of idiots have no true bead on the fandom. The top 4 Transformers have always been Optimus, Starscream, Megatron and Soundwave (and from there we go Grimlock, Devastator and some will argue those two are in the top 4 as well). The usual preferred faction has always been Decepticon. You certainly can't tell the fan favorites and the preferred side in the TF movies. Another sign that Bay has no clue and no regard for any of it.
I was there in the beginning when it all first started. I had a front row seat to all the leaked pictures and all the lies from the production crew about it. I read the lies from Orci, I read the lies from Speilberg, I read Bays insults to us all. I was there for the assurances that everything would be honored for G1. I was there for all the shit talking L I E S that was hand fed to any fan who was within reading distance. I'm telling you, the joke is on the TF fandom any way you look at it. Michael-Im-an-ASShole-Bay is the worst thing that could have ever happened to this franchise.
All one can hope for is once hes done puking out #3 in this series, after a few years a legitimate producer does a reboot on it aka how the batman movies were done. But in the meantime myself and I know others will never ever pay a penny on any of this garbage in any way. I only saw the first movie because a super quality bootleg DVD was handed to me and a beg to watch it. I obliged only out of friendship -- sat through it twice -- and haven't looked back since.
The Xmen series for all its flaws is more dedicated to its origins than anything in these so called 'transformer' movies.
And my IQ test was done several long years ago at a school. Ive had a few over the years and they do vary in the final number, anything from 124-151 *Shrug* and you are saying my IQ should have spotted the sarcasm. Its so hard to tell with Bayformer fans. Those of you who like this movie series are very defensive about it and very insulting in your own right. I have learned early on, being nice means nothing so, if a bayformer fan wants to flame the hell out of me, it matters not to me that they know what I think of them and I get that out of the way straight off.
Why are Bayformer fans SO defensive about this movie series? Can any of you truly look inside yourselves and answer that? Might be interesting to find out your real reasons if you only looked. ;)
And no prob on the stereotyping. LOL I honestly had NO idea what you were talking about and I mentioned the painting you brought up to a friend of mine and he was like 'you dont know what that is?' and Im like '...nooooo.' and he said it was Sex in the City!!!! ROFL OMG NO!! You couldn't pay me enough to watch /that/. I was stunned when my friend said that its real popular with women...pffft not this one... LOL I am NOT your typical female. And no, Im not gay...*sigh* figured Id put that disclaimer in there before that was assumed the reason why I don't like the usual female stuff. Im a tomgirl to the max -- come on Im a diehard TF fan that is not into the slash and the SNAD BS out there. (some of you might know what Im talking about)...let me give you an example of something else in the movie that yes was cool as hell. And its probably not a typical 'girl' fav scene....when Prime was fighting somebody (I swear I couldn't tell who was who and what part of who I was looking at in any of it)...and they flipped over the overpass in front of that car on the road below. THAT FREAKEN ROCKED!!!!!!!!! And man had characters been more recognizable how much better that scene could have been... oh well...
And I apologize for "stereotyping" on ya. I only dish out what I'm served. Be a rampaging jerk and you'll get pwned to no end. So what movie ARE you anticipating on seeing soon? Watchmen? Anything? Something to steer away from this Transformers tirade, since we already get the idea that you hate it. Fairly obvious :)
Oh, and what IQ test did you take, if you don't mind me asking. I administer tests like that for a living. Wanted to know if it's one of the ones I give. You also have to consider what age group you're tested at, the validity of the test itself, etc. Results vary and are subject to change. I took 3 different ones during my training and got a different result from each. 150, 120, 135, so I said 130 because that's my base range and I didn't want to brag(between 128-138). So I guess IQ testing is out, Shelley. However, you'd think with an IQ that high, she'd have achieved some level of High Actualization by now, which would, in turn, place her above such negativity AND logging on to sites like this for that reason alone. Maybe She's still working on it. You can make it. Best wishes to it, Dontcare. I like the sound of your collection, btw :)
And for the record, I never said YOU had bad hygiene, or wore 80's cartoon shirts, or inept. Calm down. I was talking about people I know. I don't know you, so, I could never say you WERE those things, but I can say it makes you SOUND like that, based on your choice of words. Seriously. You'd think you'd be able to identify impersonal sarcasm with that 151 of yours :P Your turn, if you REALLY want to keep this up. I'm not talking about Transformers and Bay here. Just your negativity and need to bash on and judge people you don't even know. Try to make it less than 1,200 words this time. You and I both have better things to do :P
I actually only stumbled across this site looking for some information regarding the Xmen Origins: Wolverine, movie coming out soon. Yes I am an Xmen fan. I was an Xmen fan before Transformers. I got into Transformers in 85, I was into Xmen from issue #50 up through to around issue #260 or so and then kind of dropped out of it. And I guess because of that I only recently watched the first Xmen movie... that blew me away. Everyone looked so dead on to their characters. The movie was so good. Sure there were some timeline discrepancies (Rogue) and so what the costumes weren't yellow and blue and I heard a lot of fans were mad about that. What was there was a vast improvement I thought. Everyone looked like they should have, everyone was pretty much how they were personality wise to what I remembered from the comics, so who cared it was black leather over yellow spandex? I can't wait to see Xmen 2 and 3 though Ive a fair bit of what happened in 3. Anyway, Im trying to make a point here. Many existing Transformer fans dreamed of nothing but the day when they were made 'real' in the sense of a 'live action' movie. And this project was handed to a man who LAUGHED at the fandom and somehow got it in his head that he was saving the Transformer franchise. He destroyed the images so badly words can not describe it. What the hell was that /thing/ called Bumblebee? It needed to be shot and put out of our misery. What was that THING called 'Megatron'? And what was the monkey freak bug called 'Starscream'? I am still trying to figure what the weird thing they called Jazz was suppose to be. Oh yea the new alternate modes rocked for everyone but personalities were way off in left field. Even Prime wasn't /that/ accurate. The simple fact that none of the Autobots had any armor persay made no sense for waring aliens. Thats just one of many discrepancies with that tripe called Transformers. Im not even going to go there with that stupid thing called Rumble? Or was it suppose to be Frenzy? And what was with the giant Scorpion? Yea great disguise...none of this shit made ANY sense. Even with the new 'universe' if you broke it all down and then looked at the redesigns NONE of it made any sense. Bay disrespected the source material and he disrespected the fans of it. He thinks all of us are stupid as hell and every second of that movie with the supposed Transformers smacked of it. It was an absolute insult to the most basic intelligence to consider that movie anything close to Transformers. There was nothing there. Unless you had a name under the picture of the tripe that he called a robot you would have no idea who it was. You certainly couldn't tell by looks or personality. His lack of regard for source material was everywhere in this first 'movie' and yet all of /you/ fell for it. Was it because you felt this was the best you were going to get to seeing them 'live action'? It must have been and it was that desperation that bastard Bay was counting on.
Women don't like Bays films? Well theres a few of his movies I do like. The way he bastardized the TFs and freely insulted its fans is what I don't like and I will not allow myself to be suckered into the garbage hes throwing out laughing because he knows most TF fans are that gullible for it.
And if one wants to start talking about IQ tests for new members here? Mine has been tested as well; 151. And I suppose it takes someone of that level to see shit for what it is. And thats all Bay is cranking out and all of you are lapping it up and asking for more. I feel sorry for those of you who have wasted your money on this garbage.
Was there anything about the first movie I did like? Actually yes. Hugo Weaving doing the voice for Megatron was brilliant. Megatron was brilliant. Its a shame I needed a program book to tell what that pile of metal shards WAS though.
Primes redesign wasn't bad. I didn't give a crap about the flame job that so many fans got into an uproar about. Who cares...you could tell it was Prime. So why the hell did that character get redesigned with care to his original form and no one else did? Great double standard there and shows Bay really doesn't know shit about Transformers, only what he wanted it to be and to the point he took it, he destroyed it.
Shia LaBeouf was brilliant as Sam/Spike. Whats her name as Carly was great. Its like some basic regard was taking for some elements to this movie but not to others and it destroyed it. This movie series could have been so much more. Its garbage and I think anyone who likes the 'movie' series is a desperate, sad, fool.
And as for whatever show was mentioned. shopoholic? Ive never heard of the show but judging by the name just because Im female doesn't mean I'd like it. And then someone mentioned some art piece hanging somewheres. Again, I have no clue what you are talking about. Nice to be so gender stereotyped here. Ahhh I am dong the same to fans of bayformers? Well now, there so much proof to make my point a blind person could see it....
So all of you can take your trifling little insults and your cut downs and assumptions and shove it. It means nothing to me. I wasn't an idiot and spent money on this garbage and talked myself into liking this shit and I never will. I have much better taste then the majority of you 'people' thats for sure. Enjoy your little gobot movie by a man who laughed at all of you and continues to do so....he can't laugh at me, Im not that stupid....
i like the idea that someone had yesterday when they suggested mandatory IQ tests for all new members.
hopefully that shit gets plastered all over the web before i leave the office at 5, i hope i dont have to wait til monday to see it.
Alright, Dontcare, for someone who "dontcare", you sure care enough to wage an unprovoked assault here on the Movieweb community with this mildly-coherent jargon of yours. I see from your page that your female, so stop calling her a man, people. You've signed on since, what, 8 hours ago? And this is the only thread you've posted on, raging on and on about how terrible Transformers and Bay are and anyone who likes it/him are "ignorant" and "Baylovers". And I thought I didn't have a life!
I hate Michael Bay, and Transformers was not the best film either in my opinion. So don't even harp on me for those reasons. If you hate them, that's one thing and there's nothing wrong with your opinion, but to start name-calling and telling people that they suck because they think otherwise is not only a waste of your time, but retarded and borders on ineptitude. In short, you can't say crap like that without getting torn apart on here. Keep your opinions away from a personal level and we'll get along just fine. I can't name a single woman I know who likes Micheal Bay and his movies, my wife included, and the only people I know who were truly disappointed-I mean-devastated by the how the film turned out were RPG convention types wearing 80's Transformer Tee-shirts with bad grooming and a serious lack of hygiene skills. See what I mean? This doesn't create a flattering image for yourself, especially if you plan to stay here as member of this community. You might want to change your name to "IHateTransformers" or "MichaelBaySucks", for starts. That name fits you better at the moment.
Also, you'll want to consider that, even if the fan base was disappointed and will not see the second film, there is a whole new audience that it did appeal to, so it will be successful, more so on a world wide scale than domestic. If I had to pick T2 over G.I.Joe, it would be T2. Just so you know, Sommers is directing G.I.Joe, so it's bound to suck. He's MUCH worse than Bay any day.
Nothing you can say will shut people up. History has shown us time and time again that doesn't work and always gets thrown back at the perpetrator's faces.
And for the record, Bay just happens to make MAN movies, you know, 10% plot and 90% testosterone. You should have known that going into the film, so how can you be disappointed? You're the one who put expectations on it, not us. And for the first film to be made based on a toyline, not the TV show BASED on the toyline, it wasn't that bad. It went well with my popcorn. I have little hope for #2, since 2year following sequels tend to suck. So get off your high-horse, woman. Go enjoy Confessions of a Shopaholic. I know I'm not going to waste the time of day on it, but by all means, tell us about the Price of Persia artwork that's supposed to be in Times Square in the background. We guys really want to know :P
nice a wed showing will be badass.
And you haven't talked about a single Transformer yet! You claim to be a fan.
It seems to me, you're not mad at the movie, it seems like you're just mad at Bay. Seriously man, get a life. And I'm saying all of this calmly, smiling in my office. So don't go saying were "sad to you".
