Gary Ross to Rewrite Spider-Man 4

Source:  Variety
It seems that Tobey Maguire might be seeing a familiar face on the set of his next Peter Parker adventure. According to Variety, Gary Ross has been tapped to rewrite Spider-Man 4.

Ross directed Maguire in both Pleasantville and Best Picture nominee Seabiscuit. Ross is rewriting the script that James Vanderbilt originally wrote and David Lindsay-Abaire rewrote, for Sam Raimi to direct. It was said that the sequel would go into production early next year.

It was also reported that Ross is rewriting and will direct a biopic on cyclist Lance Armstrong, who recently un-retired from cycling and vaulted into second place in the Tour de France this week.

Two or fewer NEW villains should be the rule for all superhero movies.

I agree with many of your guys' comments on here, well, about the article that is. Lock and Stock said it best, Vanderbilt wrote "Zodiac" so you can see his tastes in SCRIPT writing. And I think it is the exact reason why so many writers are jumping on board.

I didn't mean to say it was Raimi's fault, Newkill, but he does take part in the writing and hiring the writers. He said that he was "relinquishing control" of the story after S-M3, so here's hoping he stuck to his word. The only element he wanted were he to return to direct S-M4 was to make Dylan Baker into The Lizard.

If this guy did Pleasantville and Seabiscuit, please don't tell me he's gonna make Spidey 4 into some soppy lovesick sequel. That will be so GAY.

wait how did the whole fight start anyways, Enjoyful. anyways, I have no need to really know who will write SM4, I just want this movie to come out already. they probably are going to delay it fro the rewriting. along with that, I just want to see another spidey movie because the rotten 3rd movie was obviously not SO refreshing.

lets just agree that SM3 could have been better and venom should have been saved for 4. the problem is the drama and too many villains at once. but i guess 4 can still save the franchise....hopefully.

i think SM4 needs to return to its roots... going dark is not the best of ideas. Iron Man did great as a popcorn flick, Spider-Man 1 and 2 did too. SM1 was fantastic. Matter of fact, in SM3, it was the over-the-top writing (screenwriters trying too hard), cheesy additions (i still cringe as i watch the film's climax with that lousy reporter coverage) and attempted dark twists that ruined that film. take part 4 back to its roots and lets have some fun!

MAKE THE STORY MATCH THE COMIC! DONT GIVE VENOM HIS OWN SPIN OFF! GET THE ORIGIONAL CAST OF THE FIRST 3! DISTORY THE 3RD MOVIE!
there! all problems solved.

The problem is when i hear the word "rewrite" i get the feeling that the production will go into production hell. James vanderbilt's SCRIPT should be very dark, that's the feeling i have on it, i think that it would be the reason why so many writers have jumped on board to rewrite. This guy knows a lot about tobey so he will be able to write more on what the strong and weak parts of the actors talents are, so we will have a good spider-man 4.

Yeah, thats about all Newkill's got. I've heard him say that lame as shit so many times it annoys me he cant come up with anything better. As for his interesting taste in films, if your referring to his gay porn collection, i do agree, verrryyy interesting. It would explain why loves James Bond so much.

Maybe they want the to be perfect. Story wise, both Pleasantville and Seabiscuit were great. I have faith. If I'm wrong, then oh well they will get my $8.50 at the theater anyway lol.
