The Unit, Without a Trace, My Name Is Earl and Medium Are Cancelled
May 20th, 2009
While it's the time for some TV shows to be renewed, it's also the time for others to be let go. According to The Hollywood Reporter, CBS has canceled The Unit and Without a Trace, while NBC has canceled My Name Is Earl and Medium. However, it seems that for My Name Is Earl and Medium, their series could continue on other networks. My Name Is Earl producers are in discussions with Fox and ABC while Medium is in discussions with CBS. CBS TV Studios produces Medium and blasted NBC for the cancellation and the manner in which they did so.
NBC chairman Ben Silverman said, regarding both of the network's canceled shows, that they were, "an aging franchise, without a single fan letter, with no passion." CBS responded with a statement that read, "NBC's cancellation of Medium is inexplicable to us," the statement said. "The ratings don't lie: Medium outperforms many of NBC's renewed shows."
Medium averaged a 2.2 rating from 7.2 million viewers this past season.
