A brand new remake of an 80s classic is under way in China. According to
Associated Press,
The Kung Fu Kid, a remake of the 1984 classic,
The Karate Kid, started principal photography on Saturday.
Jaden Smith, son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith, is starring in the film as a young kung fu disciple who is trained by a wise martial arts master, played by Jackie Chan. Harold Zwart is directing the film, with Will Smith on board as a producer.
Chan and the Smith's participated in a traditional Chinese ceeremony on Saturday to kick off the start of principal photography. The film is set for a June 11, 2010 release.
