MTV has unleashed the first clip from Larry and Andy Wachowski's
Ninja Assassin directed by James McTeigue and starring Rain, Naomie Harris, Ben Miles, Sho Kosugi and Rick Yune.
In the film, Raizo (Rain) is one of the deadliest assassins in the world. Taken from the streets as a child, he was transformed into a trained killer by the Ozunu Clan, a secret society whose very existence is considered a myth. But haunted by the merciless execution of his friend by the Clan, Raizo breaks free from them...and vanishes. Now he waits, preparing to exact his revenge. In Berlin, Europol agent Mika Coretti (Naomie Harris) has stumbled upon a money trail linking several political murders to an underground network of untraceable assassins from the Far East. Defying the orders of her superior, Ryan Maslow (Ben Miles), Mika digs into top secret agency files to learn the truth behind the murders. Her investigation makes her a target, and the Ozunu Clan sends a team of killers, led by the lethal Takeshi (Rick Yune), to silence her forever. Raizo saves Mika from her attackers, but he knows that the Clan will not rest until they are both eliminated. Now, entangled in a deadly game of cat and mouse through the streets of Europe, Raizo and Mika must trust one another if they hope to survive...and finally bring down the elusive Ozunu Clan.
Ninja Assassin is in theaters November 25th, 2009.

He has True Legend coming out this year which he is also directing, and Snow & The 7 coming out in 2010, also another film called Endhiran.
So i highly doubt this is by the same chreography company that work with Yuen Woo Ping's, because they stand as a team and they've never departed from each other.
Also i did a bit of research and i couldn't find any link to Yuen Woo Ping's chreography company being attached to 300.
And if that is then boy they've let themselves, yuen and the fans down, i can;'t see his company producing crap chreography like that.
PS
Samurai Assassin is an awesome samurai flick as well
Read 'The Romance of 3 Kingdoms' though now that is an amazing novel.
I know i was stunned when i first saw Goemon too, B3njamin. Its coming out Christmas time in Korea and Japan and is done by the same director of Casshern. I cant wait, one of the guys i know is getting it shipped over here, he basically sells them for the studios before they officially hit the US and UK.
Hmmm with Shinobi the trailer really doesn't do it justice, the film is amazing plot wise and character wise, and preferably the best adaptation alongside The Dark Knight.
If you love martial arts , action films or ninja films, Shinobi is a must-see the film is amazing, cinematically, story wise, character wise and the score is spectacular especially the theme song.
I reckon Samurai Jack would make an amazing film but only if done right, maybe by Frank Miller since its inspired by his original source material which is 'RONIN.'
But there was rumours to make a live-action version to it in 2002 - 2003, but i don't know what happened to it, i think it hit development hell.
And sword of doom was originally meant to be a trilogy really?
i never knew that, i'd definately be interesting in seeing that
I'd also like to see a trilogy done of Sword of Doom, as it was originally intended to go that way.

Shinobi: Heart Under Blade (if your looking for plot with an epic score...grab this)

(Its by the people that brought you 'The Matrix Trilogy' not by the person whom chreographed it, which Yuen would have been better though')
But Yuen did my 2 favourite movies by both Jet Li (Tai Chi Master) and my favourite Jackie Chan Film next to Armour of God which is Drunken Master.
Also Yuen wasn't attached to 300 either, not sure about Mcteigue or the Wachowski's though.
But i'll probably see this if there is nothing on at my cinema.
Don't have high expectations for this neither am i intrigued by it, Americans (no offence) can't make martial arts flicks like the japanese.
As it stands my fav 2 ninja flicks are
Iron Monkey (Yuen Woo Ping Produced by Tarantino)
&
Shinobi: Heart Under Blade
PS
Your fucking rule, Sword of Doom is amazing
One of the most best recent Asian films i've seen is Shinobi: Heart Under Blade.
Best Ninja Film ever, and there is no way this American suckage can beat it
