According to
Risky Business Blog, it looks like Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes and New Line Cinema have tapped director Samuel Bayer for the new
A Nightmare on Elm Street.
The film is a franchise restart that centers on the dream-invading serial killer, Freddy Krueger.
Wesley Strick is writing the screenplay.
It looks like this new
A Nightmare on Elm Street will borrow a lot from the 1984 version.

Meh just wait for the prequel i'm writing it fucking awesome, that is if you've every seen Freddy cause a massive car wreck like the one from Final Destination 2
LOL @ Hannah's comment on celluloid
I jest, of course, but if it's a reimagining, and a new take on things, then it seems only fit that they get someone new.
Don't forget the unique killings
It was only Leatherface, Jason, Michael & Freddy in which in my novel they play as 'the 4 horsemen of the horrorpocaylpse' and if they fight long enough the Devil will rise to claim Earth and reveal a secret to change the course of mankind forever.
It was this cool little mad story i wrote out of boredom. I later expanded it into a trilogy did plot outlines for 1 & 2 and never got to three lol just gave it a title
Kruger may have an advantage if he can get Pinhead to take a nap.
Me in general i just reckon that The Nightmare Franchise just needs a prequel rather than a reboot, there is a heck a lot of backstory behind Kruger's history, which could make an interesting film, i developed a storyline at one point began writing then stopped, due to college work.
I called it 'A Dream On Elm St: The First & Final Nightmare'
Also this is my favourite horror and also the first horror film i ever saw and also gave me nightmares, mind you i was four lol.
I agree with you Kyle on the Shaymalan opinion, but i doubt he'll ever top 6th Sense, although i'd like to see him take on a sci-fi film.
