Actress Farrah Fawcett passed away early this morning in a Santa Monica, California hospital, after a two and a half-year battle with cancer.
Fawcett, who shot to super-stardom with her role as Jill Munroe in the TV sensation
Charlie's Angels, found out she had anal cancer in 2006 and was diagnosed with a malignant rectal polyp a year later. Just last month, she narrated and shot a TV special,
Farrah's Story, which she recounted her own tale of her cancer battle.
The actress' fame also received a jolt from a famous poster of her in a red swimsuit, which sold 12 million copies and became the highest-selling poster of all time. Fawcett left
Charlie's Angels after just one season to pursue a film career, with Cheryl Ladd replacing her on the show, although she did return for guest-starring spots for the second season.
Fawcett's career highlights include three Emmy nominations, six Golden Globe nominations and an Independent Spirit Award nomination for her performance in the 1997 film,
The Apostle.
