Johnny Depp as One of the Three Stooges?

Source:  Just Jared
It seems the Farrelly Brothers are looking for some top-name talent for their The Three Stooges remake they're developing. According to JustJared, the Farrelly's want Johnny Depp for their The Three Stooges film, and they want Sean Penn up for one of the Stooges as well.

"They want Johnny to play Moe and Sean Penn will be Larry - they're still looking to cast Curly," an insider says.

None of this has been confirmed as of yet, but it might be awhile before we see this new Stooges film. It was said that the Farrelly's won't start work on that film until after they finish their latest film, Walter the Farting Dog, which will star the Jonas Brothers, and start filming this spring.

We'll certainly keep you updated on any developments regarding this Farrelly Brothers remake.

WTF? What happened to making films "in the spirit of" other works, not just slap-happy fucking rehashes.

The whole remaking of the three stooges is just dumb I don't know why anyone would want to ruin such a comedic and hollywood classic it's juts stupid and dumb and hollywood needs to think of new ideas and stop ruining old classics...I like johnny depp alot but having him sean pean and god knows who else as the three stooges will just be terrible. movie will BLOW!

Great fit, like Vis said down there, it makes sense to hire him.

Curly is hard for me to cast, but maybe PSH. I mean, we need someone that's bald. lol.

Strangely I can see this working, but it will never happen. I'm pretty sure that Walter the Farting Dog is a childrens book.

I just read all the comments so far and my question is: Am I the only one that sees this story as being sarcastic? Thay cannot seriously think Johnny Depp and Sean Penn would agree to do a movie with people who's credits include "Walter the Farting Dog with the Jonas Brothers"!! Whoever said that was OBVIOUSLY kidding...

Walter the Farting Dog is actually a metaphor for the Jonas Brothers career.
Dogs seem cute and cuddly, but soon or later you get tired of picking up the shit.

I agree with Vamp's statement about agreeing with Vis' statement...
I think Johnny Depp and Sean Penn would be great choices.
And if they are going for the Oscar nominees or winners to pay tribute to the trio as Vis said, why not Russell Crowe as Curly.

I agree COMPLETELY with Agent VIS about this. GO JOHNNY!

The Three Stooges are pop culture and comedy icons. They are remembered to this day as one of the funniest, if not the funniest, comedy teams in history. When you think about it, it makes sense to get actors you wouldn't normally consider because that's what the Stooges are: they are random, and it works. Choosing actors, not comedic actors, but actors, will make this movie more than just a random comedic remake of an icon, it will make it more of a tribute, because NOBODY can replace the Stooges. If they hired comedians like your Jim Carreys or your Seth Rogens, it would seem like they were actually trying to replace them, but hiring oscar winning or nominated actors is a tribute to how big the Stooges were. Also, Depp has been in PLENTY of weird movies. He's got the mannerisms down pat. He can do this.

No i just totally overlooked it.
I have no clue who wants to see a film about a farting dog...but then again if this dog is farting on the Jonas Bros, it be great comedy.
and Walter jumps in the air and farts right next to Hannah Montana's mouth on stage. The crowd goes wild for WALTER THE FARTING DOG and demands an encore

It's crazy.

Hmmm this is interesting.

I say we get all the actors and actresses that were rumoured for Batman 3 in this movie.

Johnny Depp, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Eddie Murphy, Angelina Jolie, Ben Foster, the works, with cameos by Christopher & Johnathan Nolan, David Goyer.
& let's not forget Christian Bale telling everyone to 'GET THE FUCK OFF THE SET!"
