Lauren Shuler Donner Talks More X-Men Films

Source:  /Film
/Film recently spoke with X-Men Origins: Wolverine producer Lauren Shuler Donner who revealed some interesting tidbits about future films in this franchise.

As well as the eventual New Class, then - whenever that might be - Shuler Donner revealed that she has been cooking up plans for several other mutant films. The two she named? An X4, reuniting the X-Men and a big screen outing for The New Mutants. X4, she said, had yet to be pitched to the studio, however.

Shuler Donner also commented on the recent news that actor Tim Pocock revealed on his Twitter page about X-Men: First Class, which he said was to begin filming in February 2010. It turns out that tweet wasn't posted by Pocock and the X-Men: First Class wasn't true. Shuler Donner reiterated the news, stating that there have been no deals signed for the film, nor a start date being planned at this time.

I read an issue that it never happened, that the entire family Summer family was captured but Havoc died. I still have the issue somewhere. I looked it up on the internet yesterday with the comic in hand and it doesn't seem to have existed anymore which is odd.

Yes, Cable is from the future but he went back to an alternate past where he was scanned. It's in my collection as well, I also had that issue in hand and I cheeked that as well.
Once I cheeked, I opened the wrapping and found a letter in both of them. I had forgotten that an old school mate has been working with Marvel, I have the only issue in existence.
Ah damn, I wasn't suppose to tell you that.

Todd, they're different. Cable is a born child from the X-Men regular continuity, Nate Grey, from an ALTERNATE REALITY is a clone, and they are distinctly different fucking characters. Don't try to argue on this one, I know the facts.

Scott Summers' Father is in outer space, his mother is dead.

Yeah thats what I was referring to, I got the Scanners part.

September 22nd, 2009 4:28pm
Leng T'che, in "Scanners", the guy who was mentally battling Michael Ironside (who's the bad guy in the movie) put his mind into Michael Ironside's body, while his own body burned to cinders, with Michael Ironside's mind in it. He in affect, switched bodies.

I did kind of get side-tracked with the Patrick Stewart talk, but I figured I'd just put it out there.

The rest is pretty much self-explanatory.

I think everyone gets the common drift of things: Fox sucks, Xmen 4 needs to make up for X3, and that First Class is a stupid idea unless it actually has the original class, and too much "projects" (more like milking) is going on here. How the studios don't see the common notion from fans and non fans alike, scares me. Doesn't shock me, but it should, and that's even more shocking, because its expected from Fox.

Im having 2nd thoughts about X-Men 4
the early years of the Xavier students sounds good
and we have to see more Origin movies
but I hope Disney doesnt screw up the rest of the franchises

How can they be planning more movies if Disney said they're only going through with the Avenger's stuff that was already planned. I can maybe see the Wolverine sequel, and New Class since it's been in talks before the Disney/Marvel takeover, but talking about X4 and New Mutants is pointless. I mean how far do their property rights go? I think Disney has to put the smack down on this bitch and tell her NO!! Bad doggie! Stop pissing on the rug!

Nate Grey and Nate Summers is the same person, it's just both of them are different than the other since one is much older than his clone.
I recall that Scott Summers family is in outer space, Starjamers or something close to it.
Wolverine isn't all that bad, I just wish it was darker in places and a little less over the top action. I noticed key mutants, I thought the guy that did the blob wasn't that good an actor.
We're not suppose to met Logan's father, since he isn't suppose to be in it at all. The film should have been two films since they did have enough material.

I think they left a very logical and not artificial jump point to an X4 movie. If you think back to X3 and the supposed deaths and power losses, all can be exlained away for a return. As said, we never see Cyclops die, Jean may not have died at all, Xavier put himself into another body (a twin?) and as for the supposed cure, if it didn't work on Magneto we can assume it won't take on the others as well. So now we have a starting point for the next chapter. As for what the story is, that's up to whoever writes it.

Cable is Nate Summers.
X-Man is Nate Grey.

I'm with Raoul to an extent...as for the costumes, you have to do something other than spandex, but I agree that the leather is a phase we can ditch. I think Aastonishing X-Men or even the videogame Marvel UA2 is a good model to follow for costuming that is modern but reflects the classic traditions.

If Hugh Jackman falls by the wayside, that's fine, he fucked up by producing the Wolverine movie.

Several months ago, Marvel released news that they don't want any of their characters to be in an R rated film.
I was watching Wolverine the other night, no I will not call it X-men origins, it's a lame name. They were able to bring in Patrick to do one scene.
As of this news I'm looking forward to it, but I agree the fourth needs to fix up the mistake that Ratner did. We assume Cyclops died since he didn't have his glasses, for all we know that he was rescued by his family since they are mutants as well.
Jean is in a cocoon, Xavier needs his body back, the rest of the team hunts down a new threat as they try to help Xavier to get back into his body. I still think that Nate Grey 'Cable' should be in the fourth outing.

*sigh*
X-Men needs to join up with Marvel/Disney.
X-Men: First Class should be the only movie cooking in the X-Men oven, and not even with that name. It should be called "Uncanny X-Men" and reboot the franchise with the original five members. Then the other people, like Wolverine, Storm, Collossus, and Nightcrawler, can be PROPERLY introduced in sequels.

September 22nd, 2009 3:16am
X4?
Yes, but make it a reboot with a new cast and a new director and ask Marvel Studios to co-produce.
Release date?
2013, the 50th anniversary!
Title?
"The Uncanny X-Men"

im hoping to atleast see them in there respective costumes sometime in my life time

bring back singer already

IDEA: maybe in wolverine 2 since hes in japan, when he goes head to head with silver samurai or on some kind of ninja training/recon mission, they can put him in his comic costume, boots and mask and all and say its his body armor or something

cmon people, please the fanboys, not the corporate fat cats at FoX and the profits

Fuck all this noise. I want the X-Men in their actual costumes. Too bad though. We'll never see that as long as these characters are imprisoned at Fox. Marvel needs to get their shit back.

if you read the comic books, you'll eventually realize that jean grey was supposed to die as the phoenix. scott summers might come back. but for the love of god... BRING BACK BRIAN SINGER,FOR COTINUITY'S SAKE!!!

I am with Kman. Bring Singer and crew back for X4. For the fans only. Screw audiences who are too stupid to tell the difference of a good and bad movie.

And fuck all the spin offs. Not every comic book character needs a movie. I only want Magneto due to its great potential and Wolverine 2 since thee is no stopping them there and too hopefully make up for the first outing of our six clawed friend.
