Maria Bello will replace Rachel Weisz in the third installment of
The Mummy, according to
Variety.
She joins Brendan Fraser, Luke Ford, Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh in the Rob Cohen-directed film for Universal Pictures.
Bello will play Evelyn Carnahan O'Connell, the adventuress played in the first two films by Weisz. After Weisz declined to reprise, Cohen and the studio cast a wide net for a replacement.

The Mummy 3 brings the O'Connells and their full-grown son (Ford) to the forbidden tombs of China and the Himalayas, where they battle a shape-shifting mummy, a former Chinese emperor (Li) cursed by a wizard (Yeoh).
The film is expected to be released in the summer of 2008.

And I forgot that Sonnenfeld wasn't returning for this movie. Will someone fill me in on this Rob Cohen guy please? I don't know what else he's done. And yes, I know the answer is probably just a click away, but my PC is too outdated and slow to bother tracking it down rather than just asking here on a page that'll have already been uploaded once.
Michelle Yeoh is even more sizzle.
