Sony Pictures Television to Offer Exclusive Direct-To-DVD Content

Sony is breaking new ground in the direct-to-DVD market.

In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, "Sony Pictures Television is becoming the first major television studio to enter the direct-to-DVD market for series." The new venture is called Culver Entertainment and they will be making "drama, comedy and animated series exclusively for DVD and international distribution."

The first offering from this new venture will be a Spider-Man series. It will be comprised of 13 half-hour episodes that will debut next year.

According Sony Picture's President Steve Mosko this is new initiative is part of the studios plans to better reach consumer's directly.
