Even with all that director Robert Rodriguez has on his plate (
Sin City 2,
Predators,
Machete) it seems he still has plans for yet another film as well.
MTV Movies Blog recently spoke with Rodriguez who revealed that he wants to shoot his live-action adaptation of
The Jetsons next year.
"I've been developing [The Jetsons] for awhile," Rodriguez said, adding that he's hoping to start shooting "next year."
While the director did confirm that the film would be live-action, he was predictably mum about other details. Adam F. Goldberg (
Fanboys) penned an early draft of the script, but it has since been reworked.
"We're writing the script right now," Rodriguez said excitedly, before declining to drop any hints about the plot or potential casting choices.
I don't know about you, but I have no problems with Rodriguez shooting this next year... IF he can film at least
Sin City 2 before
The Jetsons. It's been far too long, folks. So, casting? Try this on for size: William H. Macy as George, Mary Steenburgen as Jane, his wife, maybe Cameron Bright as Elroy (or that kid from
Knowing), Bob Hoskins as Spacely and, why not... Megan Fox as Judy.

I think the only 2 mainstream directors that haven't done it yet that u can think of top of the head wise is Peter Jackson & Guillermo Del Toro.
LOL Newkill that's a bit steep.
Nice call for Bill Macy btw Sly.
But i reckon that Rodriguez shoukld focus on Machete & SC2 first, they are long overdue, and it won't be long before no one actually gives 2 shits about them any more like James Cameron's Avatar.
Sin City 2 has been long over due since Sin City's great success and fans urging for a sequel.
And well Machete considering the fact that Rodriguez has been creating this since Desperado, says something.
honestly though i think this is a stupid idea.
In regards to the rest of this: putting off "Predators" & "Sin City 2" for a kids movie is a potentially bad idea. Didn't he learn from that Spy Kids Trilogy? After all, it's been 4yrs 2 months since "Sin City" was released in theatres, and given its success, then a sequel also based on the comics is already long overdue, the reasonable limit being 3yrs later. And Danny Trejo aint gettin' any younger as he's 65yrs old as of this year, since data on "Machete" doesn't reveal a cast, plot, or production dates. PLUS, Rod already talked about "Predators," though putting that off only works since by then Arnold wouldn't be the CA Gov anymore, thus having him be more available for a possibly bigger role in the movie.
Oh well, it seems that unlike Guillermo Del Toro who has 10yrs worth of potentially great flicks in line and scheduled already, that Rod is just snagging rights up for lots of flicks w/out caring to schedule them effectively, as all his great ideas have been set aside for a brand new unanounced project that'll probably fail to find its audience, given critical reviews by the show's fans from its original broadcast date. Not to mention fans from the rerun age of the '90s. This'll be an interesting career path to keep tabs on.
Giving PREDATOR to him is a mistake. crap like MACHETE is up his alley. JETSONS the movie, no matter who does it, will only be kiddie fodder.
But Anna Faris is a good choice, another could be Uma Thurman, apparently Judy is going to be Sexy, and hard around the edges, kinda a tough bitch.
I thought Uma Thurman, sexy and a right bitch.
Ditto call on that Jim Carey as George, i can't see no one else as George now, apart from Jim Carey.
I was gonna go Steve Carel or Ben Stiller. But Carey wins it
and Megan fox can be in anything.
