Could Leonardo DiCaprio Be Captain America?

Source:  Latino Review
A new name has been added as being Marvel Studio's pick to play the title character in The First Avenger: Captain America - and that name is Leonardo diCaprio. That's right, according to Latino Review, diCaprio is currently at the head of Marvel's list to play Steve Rogers.

If that wasn't enough, apparently Marvel's second choice for the role is none other than Brad Pitt. Pitt's name has also been dropped for taking on Marvel's thunder-god, Thor.

Now, they are quick to point out that Marvel is extremely unlikely to confirm or deny this report until something is decided. Further, they point out that an offer has probably not even been made yet - simply that within the halls of Marvel Studios, diCaprio is the primary name being mentioned.

For more information on both The First Avenger: Captain America and Thor, keep reading MovieWeb and SuperheroFlix.

To be Captain America, you gotta be built, tall and intimidating. Ed Norton and Robert Downey can pass as Bruce Banner and Tony Stark, But we're talking about a super soldier. Leonardo DiCaprio is a really good actor but for Captain America, I think we gotta go with how the comic books have him drawn up. He can't be slim or medium build and not all Arnold Schwarzeneggered either. My vote would go to Karl Urban. He played Vaako in The Chronicles of Riddick and Éomer in The Lord of the Rings. I think he's seasoned enough to play the part. I like not so popular actors because you can concentrate on the character portayed and not the face of an actor whose always on the front page of US or People magazine. As far as Thor is concerned I would have to go with someone witty and not a dumb muscle bound bodybuilder. I pick Michael Fassbender, he played "Stelios" in the movie 300 (for those who don't know). Yes, the guy who said "we will fight in the shade". Let me know what you think. my email is gassy2018@comcast.net, I hope to hear your opinions.

If Triple H from WWE could act he would be the perfect pick to be Thor. He's plenty big enough and even looks just like Thor without even trying

Aaron Eckhart has expressed interest in the role; he has the look, and vibe. Leo would probably make a good 'Ant Man'.

Who cares about Cap... Who's gonna play Bucky!?!

Seriously though, two thoughts:
1. Leo would be fine as pre-super soldier Steve Rogers. But how the heck are they gonna bulk him up enough to be Cap.
2. What about Michael Trucco from "Battlestar Galactica"?

Okay I have some stuff I would like to say: Leonardo DiCapio would NOT make a good Captain America.

Captain America------They need to get Jensen Ackles for the Catpain. He's tough, he has great humor, an American acsent, about the right age, and has the face of a hero. Jensen Ackles is also great in Supernatural, and he can be great in Captain America. People just need to give him a chance. Viggo Mortensen for Red Skull. He is also a tough guy, great actor, and would be a great villain.

Thor-------I have no idea who could be Thor, but I think the villain needs to be Loki. Loki should be played by Mathew Marsden. He has that personality, that could make him a trickster and a villain.

Iron Man 2------Chow Yun Fat should be the Mandarin. He's a great actor. He is tough. He was awesome in Pirates. He would make the perfect villain. Also keep all the cast fom the last movie.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So that's my cast for Thor and Captain America. Here is my whole cast from Captain America, Thor, Iron Man 2, and Avengers.

Steve Rogers/Captain America- Jensen Ackles
Red Skull- Viggo Mortensen

Thor- I don't know
Loki- Mathew Marsden

Tony Stark/Iron Man- Robert Downey Jr.
Jim Rhodes/War Machine- Terrence Howard
Pepper Potts- Gwenith Paltrow
The Mandarin- Chow Yun Fat

Nick Fury- Samuel L. Jackson

Bruce Banner/The Incredible Hulk- Ed Nortan
Betty Ross- Liv Tyler

Pitt would be an okay choice too, if he was really clean-cut looking. Sorry for the split post.

He's a great actor. I wished he had played Darth Vader instead of Gay-den Christensuck.

Umm...no. This is Captain America...not Captain Gay. Might as well cast Mark Wahlberg if you plan to ruin the film from the get go. How about Henry Cavill instead? He'd make a good Steve Rogers. Even Brad Pitt is a better choice.

i heard just a few days ago, Incredible Hulk director Louis Leterrier said that we might see a Captain America cameo in the upcoming film. Though, people who attended advanced screenings of The Incredible Hulk said Cap was nowhere to be found.

Now, Leterrier 'fessed up to SOS Hollywood that the Captain America scene was actually cut from the final theatrical version because it was "was a very dark and strong scene" that was "considered to be too hard to young audiences to take." But Cap's cameo will surface somewhere on the Internet this week, as well as on the eventual DVD release.

So do u have any idea who was Capt America in hulk movie? DiCaprio?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... I'd choose someone unknown for the role. Not because i don't like current actor but because of the fact that there's NOBODY in shape, to put on Roger's suit... So i hope they make a good desicion to make a good Cap movie.

No, no, no..... MV didn't mean Pitt was dropped from being considered for Thor.... it says his name was dropped (in this context meaning "mentioned") for taking on the role of Thor, as in "name dropping." Read carefully folks. Doesn't mean he was dropped, but rather still under consideration for the role of Thor.

Leo would make a shitty captain america. Endo discussiono...unless u wanna take this further tom :)

*Thor has blonde.. hair.

June 17th, 2008 2:35pm
LMAO!!! wow radimus. I think diCaprio will turn down the role because he is more into Oscar winning shitty roles (except for the Departed). but in any way, i agree with Travis. Leo will probably turn down the role. As for Thor, i dont think Karl Urban will be a good choice. He is not tall or strong enough to play Thor and Thor has blonde. In the LOTR, he had this really shiny blonde hair that only elfs like Legolas can pull off.
