Golden Globe and Emmy nominee Christina Ricci (
The Opposite of Sex,
Monster) has signed to guest-star on TNT's provocative drama
Saving Grace for a three-episode arc.
Saving Grace, which stars Oscar winner Holly Hunter, currently airs Mondays at 10 p.m. (ET/PT).
Saving Grace stars Hunter as Grace Hanadarko, an intense Oklahoma City police detective whose wild personal life translates into a no-holds-barred approach to her detective work. Ricci will play a young detective who temporarily partners with Grace, whose current partner, Ham Dewey (Kenneth Johnson), is going on a leave of absence.
Ricci made her professional acting debut in
Mermaids, playing the pivotal role of Cher's youngest daughter and Winona Ryder's sister. She soon hit box office gold with her roles in
The Addams Family,
Addams Family Values and
Casper.
She went on to make a seamless transition into more mature roles, and her long list of film credits includes
Ice Storm,
Buffalo '66,
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas,
Sleepy Hollow and
The Gathering. In 1998, she earned Golden Globe and Independent Spirit nominations for her outstanding performance in
The Opposite of Sex, for which she won a Golden Satellite Award and a National Board of Review Award. In 2003, she co-starred opposite Oscar winner Charlize Theron in the harrowing drama
Monster. Most recently, she co-starred with Samuel L. Jackson in
Black Snake Moan; in the title role of the fantasy drama
Penelope; and as Trixie in the live-action adaptation of
Speed Racer.
Ricci's television credits include a recurring role in
Ally McBeal and a guest appearance on
Grey's Anatomy, the latter earning her an Emmy nomination.
Saving Grace also stars Leon Rippy, Bailey Chase, Laura San Giacomo, Lorraine Toussaint, Gregory Cruz and Dylan Minette. Scoring big in its first season, the show ranked as one of ad-supported cable's top new series of 2007 with an average of more than 4.7 million viewers. It comes to TNT from creator Nancy Miller. Hunter, who earned Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations for her work in the series, also serves as producer.
