EXCLUSIVE: It's Official, No New Star Wars Movies Coming!

No New Star Wars Movies ComingOn May 9th, Roger Friedman of Fox411 reported that George Lucas was planning two more Star Wars movies, most likely for TV. Lucas alleged that these hour long live-action films would take place during the original Star Wars era, but would not have members of the Skywalker family as characters. Lucas stated, "They will be other people of that milieu."

Well, I got on the phone with the head of Lucas Film fan relations and know-it-all force behind everything Star Wars, Steven Sansweet, this morning to talk about the upcoming Celebration IV taking place in Los Angeles. I asked him about the two films and this is what he had to say...

George Lucas recently said that he is planning two more Star Wars movies, most likely for TV. Can you tell me anything about that?

Steven Sansweet: No, no, no, no. There are going to be two more Star Wars television series. One of them is well into production. That is Star Wars: Clone Wars. It's a CG animated show, which we suspect will be on the air sometime next year. And then George and Rick McCullen were just now starting work on a live action series. A drama. That will probably be coming out in 2009 or 2010. He is actively at work on both of those. But the CG animated series is more adult. It has a lot of humor in it. It is very cinematic. We will be talking about that for the first time at the celebration.

Well, there was an article making the rounds on the Internet that Lucas was planning two made-for-TV movies based in the Star Wars universe. So, that's not true?

Steven Sansweet: There is no truth to that whatsoever. I haven't even seen that rumor. I can absolutely tell you that is not true.

Can you tell me anything about the footage we will be seeing from Star Wars: Clone Wars at the Celebration?

Steven Sansweet: We have no plans right now to show any footage. The TV show has not yet found a home on television. Until that happens, they are telling me that they are unable to show any actual footage. So, we'll just have to be patient and see what develops.

it would be really cool if they made 3 more star wars movies i grew up watching star wars and i want my kids to do so also

It would be great if they made a Jedi Academy TV series. Based on the pc game :- Star Wars - Jedi Knight - Jedi Academy. Mark Hamill could return as the older Luke Skywalker who is the Jedi Master of a new Jedi Academy. Set 20 years after Return of the Jedi. the Academy is re-formed due to a new treat in the galaxy .Could be Sith or even a new evil.

Hamill would probally want millions to do it , it has been years since star wars but maybe he'll never return.

The fans would go crazy for it.

JJ ABRAMS should get envovled. Lucas should be left out cause it needs a fresh approach.

It would be great if we could get Timothy Zahn's, Hand of Thrawn Trilogy onto the big screen. Yah maybe Lucas is over it but that is a fantastic story that would be a great set of movies.

I kinda wanted to see a few more, but you know these movies must take forever to develop, and the series is awesome the way it is, so maybe it's a good thing that they are slowing down to a couple of TV shows, one animated, one Live Action, then possibly they could let it go, because we don't want a repeat of Friday the 13th, not saying for sure that it would end up that way, but most movie series do end up that way, unfortunately.

I THINK LUCAS SHOULD LET NEW DIRECTORS HAVE A CRACK AT NEW STAR WARS MOVIES.GUILLERMO DAL TORO,PETER JACKSON AND SPIELBERG. CAN U IMAGINE WHAT A ROB ZOBIE STAR WARS WOULD LOOK LIKE, TALK ABOUT THE DARK SIDE

Another thing George, if you do make the last three movies please include Darth Vader secret apprentices in one of the movies. and about the TV show let me be the first to say nobody want to watch that shit! Stick to what got you Paid the movies.

Hey George,
i just want to say i think it's a shame you won't make any more star wars movies. I think you kind of cheated the fans of the finished story. I know you're paid out of your mind! but at lease you can finish the story. Remember you got rich off the fans and i think you owe us a finished product or let another person finish the story for you.

theres so much out there. to pluck from..the clone wars animated would be cool and so will the new tv series..but i would like to see them take a book or two and turen them into animated movies..be great to have mr ford , ms fisher and mr hamil back in those rolls
