Ray Park Is Snake Eyes in G.I. Joe!

Source:  /Film
Ray Park Snake EyesWhen it was announced that Sienna Miller had been cast as the Baroness in Stephen Sommer's G.I. Joe, it provoked a good deal of interest from fans of the franchise. Today, /Film has announced that Ray Park has been cast as Snake Eyes in the upcoming film adaptation of the cartoon from the 1980's.

Snake Eyes is one of the original members of the GI Joe team, and has proven to be one of the most popular characters from the line. Little is known about his real identity, as it has remained classified throughout the series (and re-interpreted with each new cartoon or comic series.) What has remained constant has been that he trained under two ninja masters - the Soft Master and the Hard Master, and that his history is linked to that of Cobra's ninja assassin - Storm Shadow. Snake Eyes has also had an ongoing romantic relationship with fellow G.I. Joe member Scarlett.

Hasbro has confirmed that the film will feature the rivalry between Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow.

Ray Park is best known for his role as the Sith Lord Darth Maul in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, and also appeared in Bryan Singer's X-Men as the Toad.

G.I. Joe is scheduled for an August 7. 2009 release.

It has been a few years, I could be wrong on my Snake Eyes back story. Sorry if I got something wrong...

UH... Snake Eyes was muted in Vietnam in the original comic books, and series. However I have heard he is now silent for this film, as a way to spititualy grow more, a sort of spiritual training per-se, and not as the result of an accident. and why the mask in the film? well the original Snake eyes was disfigured by a grenade explosion, saving the life of once comrad, Storm Shadow, in Vietnam. For the Film??? I have recieved no clues, or insight. Maybe a fire?

That's why this is perfect casting... hopefully this is Snake Eyes post accident... he won't talk at all.. which is good, b/c Ray Parks voice irritates me.

Hey as long as they don't cast John Cena as Duke... I'm cool!

The whole cating of this live version of the TV Show from the 80's is getting stranger and stranger!! Sienna Miller as the Baroness LOL!!!
People seem to forget in 1987 "G.I. Joe: The Movie" hasd already been out, but Animated & there was even a 1985 TV series!!
What is up with this retro throw back to the 80's???
Ray Park as also signed on to play Iron Fist (Daniel Rand)for the film "Iron Fist"! Which should be interesting!

Ray Park is AWESOME, I would have preferred for him to be Storm Shadow, since he is ALSO my favorite, but just the fact that he is in this move will make it great.

Pretty good choice, esp. since you're not supposed to see his face, or hear him talk. Maybe in 8 years, he'll get another cool role. ;)

Love it. Even though he's short. So George Lucas had to sit everyone else down when they shot him!

so if Ray park is snake eyes who is Storm Shadow?
p.s. Snake eyes has blonde hair blue eyes. Ray park looks better suited for storm shadow not snake eyes.
