Dark Horse Comic's hit series The Umbrella Academy is coming to feature film screens for Universal Pictures, and Mark Bomback has been tapped to do the adaptation. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Bomback (Constantine, Race to Witch Mountain) will be adapting the comic created by My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way.

In the comics, The Umbrella Academy is a group of superheroes who had disbanded years ago. The heroes were all adopted and trained by Reginald Hargreeves, an alien disguised as a wealthy entrepreneur. When Hargreeves dies, the members of the Umbrella Academy reunite to carry on his mission and save the world.

The first The Umbrella Academy miniseries was published in 2007 and won an Eisner Award. A second miniseries is currently in the works.
