LA Daily News reports that X-Men executive producer Lauren Shuler Donner is currently working on the cast for a 4th installment in the movie franchise. Renegotiations would be needed to secure the main stars of the previous three films.

Donner says "The newer cast members are signed, and the older cast members are not." Considering the older names involved -- Halle Berry, Hugh Jackman, Rebecca Romijn, Famke Janssen and Anna Paquin -- that could run into a huge chunk of money.

All that's putting the cart before the wolverine, of course, since Hugh Jackman is set to reprise his role as the manicure-challenged mutant superhero in his own film. "Next, we're going to do 'Wolverine,' but not before the end of the year because he's in the Baz Luhrmann film," she says of the filmmaker's untitled Australian epic with Nicole Kidman. However, "We have the script and are working on it."

Shuler Donner reports, "We also have 'Young Magneto' in development."

Hi i am writing my own X-Men sequel which would work on a better interpretation of the characters of the X-men comic but still respecting the movie franchises counterparts.
The story would revolve around the X-Men being confronted by Sinister.
The synopsis is as follows:
6 Months after the Phoenix brought mankind to its knees, humans and mutants are seeing through an unsteady peace.
A Sinister figure steps from the shadows with a proposition to help the X-men be reunited with there fallen comrades.
The X-men however are wary but when Magneto steps forward it is revealed just how Sinister bringing back the dead really is........
Anyone interested in reading the first parts of my film can just reply to this or message me and id be happy to email you the story so far and share ideas with you.
Thanks!

I would like to see The Brood in x-men 4 because it would make the movie more darker and more twist to it. If they can pull off by making The Brood which kinda similar to Aliens movie.. then it gotta be cool and I'm sure anyone would love to see that as x-men battle the Brood. Then I could see Apocalypse in x-men 5 where he has 4 horsemen and angel tranform into Archangel by Apocalypse. So that why I would give angel a chance to be Angel in x-men 4 against the brood. Beside, we need to see how angel can do while he still have feathers wings.

apocalypse would be awesome... not to mentioned Phanlax whom clone pretty much everyone on earth. I can't see if they bring back jean unless Mr. Sinister brought her back to life but what abt cyclop? Also there are cool super villian such as Mojo, and the Brood

what they should do is have a kid around 15 and she's like...Jean reincarnated or Jean's secret daughter and she has the phonix (however you spell it) and Magneto starts using her.

I'm not too familiar with children of the atom. I've heard of it. I like the wolverine series in the early nineties. He loses his adamantium, then one set of claws. I actually jumped in at that time, i personally like the Infinity Gauntlet, Thanos is awesome. now I'm trying to finish collecting Age of Apocalypse. Those stories are way out there to be put into a film. There just Too Cool. Maybe an rpg game something that carries the story.

If you want a good rehash on the X-men's origin, Children Of THe Atom is...adequate. It would at least make a better movie than First Class. It was the Wolverine series from the eighties.

No way, its terrible huh, I'll have to check it out (X-men,first class)and see for myself. I heard Frank Miller collaberated with an X-Men series or was it wolverine? I think FOX is getting too excited about their X-MEN Franchise, Yes X-Men will always be profitable, but they keep rushing themselves to put it on screen and sacrificing quality. Whatever they do I want to see a drug abusing villian, lol.

Dude, FIRST CLASS was a terrible series. It read like it was written for five year-olds. When I heard Parker was going to be writing stories about the original crew in their original concept (the 60's) I got excited. But it was just a bunch of lame freak of the week stories that filled in the blanks left by the old comics. If you're going to do a reboot, do it, don't puss out.

I hope they start the whole series over with the original five as though no one knew who they were.

yer apocalypse would be awsome..what about mr sinister, not sure if hes in the first class story line but i wanna see that guy on the big screen, i remember reading a story line were gambit was on trail for mass murder an sinister was involved, that would be good to see.

Looks like FOX is considering X-MEN:First Class story line By Jeff Parker. Sounds like a fresh reboot. I get the feeling it will have a new, edgey, vintage fell to it like Superman Returns. This one should HAVE all the characters to it & disregard the other movies.

i hope not, love x men comics but the movies were all below average. the casting was terible in all 3 of them, sabretooth was too weak, vinnie jones as juggernaut, storm wasnt african in the movie.
i just wish they would wait longer enought to start a new franchise so some else can take it in another direction.

Aich. If they'd get a decent cast, and some more names from the books, this would be great. Sage, Emma Frost, and Irene, anyone? Come on. Plus they totally set it up for a fourth, what with Magneto getting his powers back. They really could do better, though. The characters were all screwed up: the ages, the relationships. Everyone knows Mystique was in love with Destiny. Goodness.

forced? id be sooo willing as long as halle berry wasnt in it, how about a storm who actually had an african accent?, and if Famke didnt look like a scary demon. I wouldnt mind if they brought back the actually entertaining people, kept it simple and make it as if x-men 3 and all its horribleness never existed.

Nothing wrong with being a critic. Smoke some weed.
The only reason first X-Men was ok, was bryan s. introducing characters. So naturally it was slow. X-2 was great. Now when I think about, X-3 was a mistake. The whole story just didnt evolve well enough from X-2. If Bryan Singer finished X-3 it would've had more substance to it, hence a longer movie, which is good. Is It True-Singer did WANT to do X3? But he had already signed on to do Superman and Fox didn't want to wait for Singer to finish Superman?
Superman was a good movie, but it had more of an intellectuals feel to it.

wtf is wrong with you. We know that they won't be seen by anyone who can get them made(at least most of us know that) but we do it to get it out of our system. Don' put us down. Now go in acorner and take a chill pill.
as for making a 4th X-man, not sure that's a good idea. But i thought X-man 2 rocked, and Bryan did a pretty good job, on that 1. X-man 1, and 3 were ok, but not great.
