Neil Burger Resuscitates Bride of Frankenstein

Source:  Risky Biz Blog
Bride of FrankensteinThe Hollywood Reporter's Risky Biz Blog has revealed that Universal and Imagine are negotiating with Neil Burger to write and direct a remake of the 1935 monster movie Bride of Frankenstein.

Burger will write the script with writing partner Dirk Wittenborn.

James Whale's original Bride of Frankenstein starred Boris Karloff as the monster and Elsa Lanchester as the infamous bride, and continued the story that began with 1931's Frankenstein.

No production date has been set.

If they're gonna do it they should use Bonham Carter. She's a great choice.

Del Toro is remaking Frankenstein.
We're not gonna see this film for a while, don't worry.

Oh, yes, Helena Bonham Carter would be just superb in this remake.

Helena Carter or Tilda Swinton for the bride would be cool. These remakes are inevitable, and I just don't have the energy right now to complain about this. Those are my two picks if this really happens.

The Bride is one of the best of the classic Universal Monster films...and probably Whale's best picture. I'm not opposed to a "remake" but I don't know how they'll do it with out remaking Frankenstein first. The Bride only appears for a few short minutes at the end of the film. The first 3/4 of the film is about the Monster. If they re-do Frankenstein and base it on the novel, the Bride is part of the original story. As interesting as a remake could be, it's sad that creativity has dried up to the point that everything is a remake these days. Oh, and NewKill200...the Creature from the Black Lagoon was made in 1955...not the 30's...and they ARE remaking that film too.

Natalie Portman sounds good, Vis.
But a remake of this film doesn't excite me at all.

Is this how Hollywood goes "Green"? Everything is getting recycled these days. Seriously; I think that they're making these remakes out of dares now. It's probably like,"I dare you to remake Different Strokes. No, no, I dare you to remake Howard The Duck. Well I double dog dare you to remake Alf. Well I triple dog dare you to remake The Brady Bunch." Ooopps; forgot, they've already done that one; see what I mean. This has been ridiculous for a while, now it's just sad.

Why remake this? That character isn't even interesting. If your going to do a remake anything from the 30's, remake the creature from the Black Lagoon.

i'd rather see Guilmero del toro do a sequel to his reinvention of Frankenstein, not this shit. and who the hell is Neil Burger anyways, they heir a new comer just so that they can remake another classic. think of something more original assholes
