Warner Bros. to Bring Tom and Jerry to the Big Screen
January 22nd, 2009
In a story from Variety, Warner Bros. will be turning Tom and Jerry into a big screen family franchise. The plan is for the main characters to be in CG but they will be placed in live-action settings.Producer Dan Lin will be adapting the Hanna-Barbera characters for this project. It will begin with their first meeting, how they don't get along and then "reluctantly working together during an arduous journey home."
Writing the screenplay will be Eric Gravning.
It looks like Alvin and the Chipmunks $360 million dollar haul for Fox is what helped Warner Bros. decide to move in this direction. Also, ancillary markets like DVDs, video games and sequel potential also factored into the decision.
Tom and Jerry started as a set of 114 animated shorts that were made by MGM from 1940 to 1960. These won 7 Academy Awards.

it'll be what is generally referred to as "good enough".
I can remember all the great episodes the one with the ice,the one with the fireworks and the one with the bull, man it will be good.
This will be interesting. But do Tom and Jerry talk? I don't remember if they do or don't; or how how it would matter, anyway?
