Sony Pictures Classics is planning a Christmas Day release for Terry Gilliam's upcoming movie The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, which marks the late Heath Ledger's final screen performance.

The film's North American premiere will be at the Toronto Film Festival on September 18 and be released in the UK on October 16.

The movie also stars Christopher Plummer, Tom Waits, Lily Cole, Andrew Garfield, Verne Troyer, Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law.
