Sean Penn, Jim Carrey and Benecio Del Toro Are The Three Stooges

Source:  Variety
MGM seems to have found its trio of actors for a long-awaited remake. According to Variety, Sean Penn has signed on to play Larry in The Three Stooges remake. The studio is also entering negotiations with Jim Carrey to portray Curly and Benecio del Toro to play Moe.

It was said that Carrey is already prepping for the role and planning to gain 40 pounds to portray Jerome "Curly" Howard. The Farrelly Brothers are directing and the film was said not to be a biopic of the trio, but rather a comedy revolving around the zany antics that Howard, Larry Fine and Moe Howard displayed in the classic short films of the 30s and 40s.

Production will begin sometime in the fall for a 2010 release.

Oh BTW it doesnt say being gay is wrong in Genesis it says so in Leviticus. Citing the bible as a source of truth and science against homosexuality is just dumb. The bible says its wrong sure but the bible also says this.

1.The bible mentions unicorns, satyrs, cockatrices and a race of Giants. The bible talks about these mythical creatures not in the mythical sense, but in the real sense, mentioning them right alongside real animals. That's really childish.

2.Jesus driving pigs into the sea, after infecting them with "demons"... really, really dumb. How could these devils be killed this way? Why would such a dramatic production be necessary

3.The early Christian Church practiced a form of communism. People joining the Church were required to give all of their possessions to Church leaders. If they failed to do this, and kept some back for themselves, they would be murdered. This is documented in Acts of the Apostles.

WTF where did the giant gay conversation come from? Well whatever i was going to ignore it but JohnnyBlaze is stating a lot of false apparent facts and then backing them up with the bible of all things? Homosexuality is believed moreso to be genetic that is FACT there is a bigger majority of scientists and researchers who agree that it is in some way genetic. You also use the its not natural cause animals donèt do it. That is false too ever hear of dolphins or binobos they mate with the same sex often. Comparing gays to pedophiles, beastiality and necrophilia is just ignorant its called sexual consent that is the differance their. Saying a dick was never meant to enter an @$$hole um ive fucked my ex girlfriend in the ass before and she loved it in fact their is a g-spot up their so again you are wrong!

i see wut u mean RingWraither but i totally disagree with the Robin Williams thing, idk he just annoys me, to each their own though. didn't Penn start out in comedies though, like Fast times at Ridgemount High (idk if thats the name i never saw it) and i agree Del Toro can easily do the stupid funny thing, i mean he did it in Snatch and kinda in Sin City too.

idk i think this cast is kinda too unique of choices to pass any sort of actually judgment on until i see them in the roles.

Im not upset that theyre making the 3 Stooges (because I mean cmon.. its Hollywood sooner than later right?) but I am upset that they didnt choose more known "comedians" than just Carrey. Del Toro and Penn are GREAT actors.. I dont see them playing stupid :/ Ive never seen Del Toro play a comedy role before... I think Robin Williams would have made the perfect Moe in my opinion. BUT since they are great actors "maybe" they can pull it off. If not blame the person who casted them in!

Aw thanks streetdisciple your display pic makes you look like stereotypical ghetto trash who think its cool to walk around with a bandana over his face. For the record i dont even like it when black people use that term i make a point not to say that word cause i dunno im not some racist prick who likes to start shit online with people cause im bored and mama wont pay attention to me. Also i dont live in a suburban area and secondly i dont even listen to rap music thirdly im not gay sorry to disappoint you. TROLL FAILS

ok i'm agreein to disagree on this point, cuz i could keep countering wut ur saying with wut i think is right and u could keep countering me with wut u believe to be right and we'd get no where. and don't get me wrong i respect ur opinion and all even though i completely disagree.

complete side not, i noticed in ur profile ur into comics, which is y i tried to friend request ya.

and yeah it sucks that Wolfman got delayed a few months, i was lookin forward to seein it sooner.

yeah your right and i know i said id b done too but you brought up the country thing again. and the truth is PEOPLE voted based on moral choice not just religion. WE as a people voted because its wrong. And the Conclusive evidence is well... right under your nose. A mans dick was never designed to enter a mans rectum. just as a hard piece of plastic (or metal) was never intended for a woman its an abomination now you say its biological. ok how about Petifiles? or Beastiality? is that biological? all of it is an abomination its just our Society that deems one ok and not the other.I mean humans are some sick animals we rape and kill destroy all of which are wrong... What im saying is, Where does it end? maybe in a Couple of years wel be seeing people marry animals or children. The Bilble makes it clear jus look at sodom and Gomora. but hey im not gonna get all preachy im jus saying the way the worlds going it looks like were going to hell in a handbasket.Sorry im done too. hopefully i got my point across. So uhhh how bout that Del toro? grweat Actor huh? im siked to see his take onthe Wolfman hahahahaha

ok so i actually did look it up just to make sure i wasn't speakin out of turn or anything, and there is no conclusive decision based on numerous studies at to whether bein gay is based on nature or nurture. but most of them seem lean toward biological over choice.

and i think u missed my point on the bible thing, my point is that this country isn't supposed to make decisions based on any one religion cuz this is a country for anyone and everyone, not just one religion. just saying, but i'm gunna be done with this now cuz it is way off topic.

seriously man no disrespect im not swearing jus saying my peace. But yeah this is an intresting cast jus wish it was for somthing original, which is somthing hollywood has been lacking as of late.

hahaha Vis is right.no pun intended but this is pretty gay but il jus answer u by saying being gay is not genetic look it up. its all psycological animals dont choose 2 b gay as im sure if youd c threw a female in heat wit your dogs. granted it has an effect thru some1's childhood. an the bible took place long b4 any goverment. an speaking of this great state didint we vote as a people against it? your right though im not trying 2 argue jus stating facts. bub

oh and again really not tryin to get in a fight bout this, just want to say that the argument about the bible shouldn't count cuz when this country was founded (assuming we're all U.S. citizen, my bad i know this is the web so u could be from anywhere) it was founded with the ideal of church bein separated from state therefore not influencing the laws of the U.S., or at least it shouldn't. again not tryin to be a dick, but i figure y not have an actual debate of some kind that doesn't include us just swearing at each other via message boards.

March 26th, 2009 11:55pm
alright, two things, my male dogs hump each other sometimes, just saying. and not to get on ur case or anything, sorry if i came off a lil harsh in the other post directed toward u, i was in a bad mood already. but i'm pretty positive bein gay is a genetic thing not a choice. i mean y would anyone choose to be apart of something that gets so much negative treatment and hate directed towards it. anyway my bad again for gettin at u.

and my new opinion on all these remakes is that no matter wut we do we won't be able to stop them from bein made, so i just hope that they at least get made with some dignity, which is Penn, Carrey and del Toro i think it will at least be a respectable remake. but again yeah those actors aside from Carrey, won't be back for any sequels. so that sucks

now on to the subject at hand: granted this is a great and unique cast. but the question remains WHY? the stooges are legends in comedy. why desicrate our childhood memories of the original trio?

March 26th, 2009 2:00pm
your right bd this is dumb. im probly not gonna change your ideals an u wont change mine. il just say my piece and stop. truth is there is no "gay" gene either. unlike a person born black gayness is a lifestyle not somthing some1 is born into. its an unfair comparrison just as any blackman. the bible says it clearly in Genisis. and if your not into religion jus look at evolution would life be able to survive with same sex partners? y do u think there arnt any gay animals? ok thats enough il stop.

yeah im not sure how i feel about this.
il reserve judgment for the time being.

March 26th, 2009 8:55am
Can't argue with that list Kyle, there's some good stuff there...but for every original (in the literal sense) movie there's a slew of puked up rehashes of old material.

I want the film industry to take more chances on uncharted themes and storylines like some of the films you have mentioned. Children of Men is definitely in my top 5 films.

Does the world really need a re-imagining (christ, I hate that term) of the three stooges?

Slumdog Millionaire, Requiem For A Dream, The Wrestler, City Of God, City Of Men, Memento, The Prestige, Wall E, Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, Pan's Labyrinth, Gran Torino, Donnie Darko, Into The Wild, Million Dollar Baby, Children Of Men, In Bruges

There are TONS of original screenplays and original movies it's just the big budget adaptations and remakes already have a set fanbase so naturally they get more news coverage. You just have to know where to look when it comes to original movies.

March 26th, 2009 7:41am
I've said this so many times before, but why won;t Hollywood deliver something new.

EVERY film that comes out these days seems to be a remake, a sequal, an adaptation of a cartoon, comic, graphic novel or book.

Can we have some original screenplays please?

It's just lazy.

March 26th, 2009 4:11am
They're not looking for "funny" actors in the traditional sense of the word. They want actors who they know can, ya know, ACT. They're not just getting the latest "funny guys," because then it would have no meaning. It would just be a another trio pretending to be Stooge like and they'd ruin it with their filth and garbage that works for their movies, but wouldn't work here. This means they're not trying to replace the Stooges, because no one can...if they got the latest "it" comedians it would seem that way. No...this is a tribute to the Stooges. The fact that they're looking for award winning actors to play these classic characters is fantastic because the Stooges are more than just comedians....they're icons. You don't have to be a comedian to play a funny role, you just have to be a great actor, and this trio is.
