Will Spider-Man 4 Swing Into Theaters in 3-D?

Source:  Forbes
It seems the latest in a superhero franchise might come to your theater in 3-D. Forbes recently spoke to Sony Pictures co-chairmen Amy Pascal and Michael Lynton, who revealed that 3-D technology could possibly be implemented into Spider-Man 4.

When asked whether the technology could be used for Spider-Man 4, Pascal simply replied, "Could be." Lynton added, "People are paying a premium to see movies in 3-D and that's a very big deal. It's never been done before that someone says you have to pay more to see Spider-Man than a romantic comedy."

Click Here! for the rest of the interview with the executives. Spider-Man 4 is currently set for release on May 6, 2011.

Beowulf and Nightmare Before Christmas. best 3D movies ever made imo... as for Spiderman 4 being in all 3D...id say it has about a 50/50 shot of being a smash hit, or something along the lines of "TMNT"...

Yeah Vis, your right. Marv, what the fuck is wrong with you? Vulture and Rhino. Are you fucking serious?

May 1st, 2009 4:45pm
Vulture and Rhino are some of the lamest villains in Spider-Man history and would not work at all in a big screen adaptation

Spider-Man 4 in 3-D, i dont know about that but they gotta have Carnage, Vulture, Scorpion and Rhino in the series.

Well, SLIM and VIS I agree with what you two both said.

You're right VIS, that 3D should be the last things on their minds. And by 'theirs' I mean Sony/Columbia. It's the studio's doing here, obviously. If they don't resurrect the series here after Raimi's poor job directing and his induction with co-writing Spider-Man 3, than it WILL spell the end of this franchise. Which is what I thought the last movie did, but whaddyaknow?

No more Sinister 6 SLIM, but what we do have is now Raimi wants to do the anticipated Lizard story arc, since they have developed the Curt Connors character in the last two films, and mentioned him in the first. Which is most likely fine with most fans, as long as they don't screw that character over like they did with Venom. I once read that Raimi thought a good choice for villains would be Vulture and Electro. It just goes to show that although Raimi "claims" he's a fan of the books, he really has no clue how to do a movie about it. From Day One he has messed up the story and now he's in a hole he can't dig out of. The biggest mistake for making "Spider-Man 4" was firing James Vanderbilt and handing his two-movie-arc script over to David Lindsay-Abaire, which may/may not have also been the studio's doing as well.

Bottom line: Raimi is out of writing duties (thank the heavens!), Lizard is one of the villains (studio wants two - no more, no less), and they need to make this on par with the second installment or no more webs for the wallcrawler.

Well I've been reading a lot of comments and there are like a few of you who make a good point. In my own opinion Spider-Man (2002) was the best. It stuck to the basic story line of the comic. Spider-Man 2 was more of his personal problems with juggling identities and family so it was like watching a drama. Spider-Man 3 was awesome when I saw it. Now that I am used to it, the film sucked. I didn't see a point in having three villains (if you want to include Harry Osborn).

The Spider-Man trilogy's biggest subplot was the Green Goblin story line. It wasn't necessary, if they had spaced it out, maybe every other Spider-Man it wouldn't have been so predictable. I know for a fact that some of you may feel the same way. Another one that was a waste of my money was focusing on God damn Mary Jane. She was a fucking drama queen.

Each film carried into the next. It's his emotions with Uncle Ben, the Green Goblin, Mary Jane. Each film they kill off the fucking villain and then Spider-Man FORGIVES Sandman and lets him escape. Seriously?

I once read that Sam [Raimi] wanted to do a film that included the Sinister Six. I mean come on. I was pretty sure it included Dr. Octopus and Sandman. How can that happen? He killed off Doc Ock. I don't want to go on a rant but this film should not be made in 3D. It takes away from the story and the series isn't looking so good at this point.

I doubt a movie this big will be mandatory 3D. They did what 5 IMAX shots in The Dark Knight along with an amazing story, I'm sure if they do 3D it will either be A) simply an option or B) just a few action sequences. It'd be retarded to have the WHOLE movie in 3D lol. I don't need to be standing next to Peter as he is walking down the street or whatever lol.

Btw Newkill, no one likes you so knock it off. You steal my previous insults I've had with you in the past and then use them on me... lol idiot. Get your own shit. And no I don't want to suck any cock (which was going to be your next insult). You are kinda predictable.

I told you people...Spidey webs on 3D = cumshots flying to hit you in your face! Do you want to see this? Do you want to be fucked in cinema by this movie and take it on your face? Well..do you, punk? Yeah...I thought so. No fucking 3D! Fuck no!

It doesn't matter that it's not mandatory. It's the fact that they want to use 3d effects in this movie, to obviously bring in more money. There gonna be more focused on trying to come up with things that will jump out at you, instead of making a good movie. So, even if you do decide to watch it in 2d, you'll still be fucked.

On second thought, fuck it. 3-D isn't necessary, option or not. The special effects of the Spidey films have always been their best attribute, especially the third one, but I'd rather not see them in 3-D...it's overrated. How about they focus on making a decent story line that makes up for the last attempt's? 3-D should be the last thing on their minds right now

You have an option to see it in 3-D, it's not mandatory if they do it

This will be bad, just remebering all the 3-d films that have been made..yuck. The script will have to be down graded i'm very disapointed with this, i was hoping for a spider-man film with some dialogue to make george lucas blush....but that ain't happening.

got it give it Rufio he speaking the truth i think they might have wack script or roughdraft and are thinking ahead about what can make them the most money seeing they were supoased to film 4&5 back 2 back and thats not happening anymore so they're thinking ticket sales $$$

April 23rd, 2009 9:24am
Rufio, your absolutely right.

chad: i'm not saying it is an "either-or"... i'm saying i cannot think of many (if any) GOOD movies that were 3-D (usually the focus is on making the effect good) or where 3-D added to the movie. usually 3D movies restage fight sequences (and add extra flight or moving or action scenes) to utilize the 3D technology. so by having 3D as the desired medium, they do rearrange the script and such to get full use of the technology. in my opinion, 3D is a gimmick to get people into the theater (and pay extra money for cheap 3D glasses). Spiderman doesn't need a gimmick to sell more tickets.

What would make the story kick even more ass would be the fact that since Tony Stark dose become Peter's best friend, he can make a cameo and give him the STARK ARMOR COSTUME HEEEEELLLLLL YEEEEEAAAA!!!!!

we cant have spiderman in 3d bro

thats little kids shit bro

now i dont want to even see it now

As long as the story kicks ass and there are plenty of villains 2 go around, it will be all good. Here hoping for Lizard, Craven the Hunter and maybe the return of Sandman.(Sandman's daughter can die and he can take it out on New York, that can make him evil again).

See, this is what happens when you have fucking retards on the site. Chad, we're not saying that a story can't be made. We're saying that the 3d effect will take a lot away from the storytelling, you stupid piece of shit. Why are you even on here? Go to a site that's helps people with down syndrome. Idiot.

This what you dumbasses think that the producers are discussing with Sam in a conference room with everyone involved with the film. "We only have 2 options. 1- we make a good plotline for this film or 2- we can just have spiderman fighting himself in the mirror in 3D"

OMG I have a idea, this is fucking nuts... omg omg omg have Spiderman 4 will have an amazing script AND be in 3D omg is it possible to do both? Do you people honestly believe that the 3D developers are secretly the writers of these movies or something and they can only one or the other lol? *smacks the stupid people*

Fuck the fucking 3D! With those 3D glasses on while watching Spidey movie...what effect can you get??? Spidey's web flying around the cinema would be like watching cumshots about to hit you in your face! Fuck no!......And Alundra? Is that your pic next to your name? :)
