It's no secret that Ghost Rider is one of Nicolas Cage's personal favorites. He worked hard to get it on the screen and was quite pleased with the results. It made a lot of money when it came out last spring, grossing $115 million. It seems like a sequel would be a forgone conclusion.
So, is Ghost Rider 2 in the works? Well, today during a national press conference for his upcoming film National Treasure: Book of Secrets, Cage seemed rather disappointed that Sony hasn't greenlit a second installment. Would he do it? You bet. He stated, "All they have to do is call!" The enthusiastic actor would do it in a heartbeat.
Cage hasn't ever been one to do sequels. He says, "I don't like to repeat myself." National Treasure: Book of Secrets is the first follow-up he has ever participated in. And he'd like to see the series become a trilogy. For the third installment, Nic stated, "I believe this series should become more and more International Treasure. I was very happy to see that we went to London, England and Paris, France with National Treasure: Book of Secrets. But I'd like to see us go wider still. I could go to Africa, Egypt, Asia and keep going. My hope is that Ben'd get recruited. He gets a dossier from these other countries about their history and he has to download it and learn and try to go on these hunts on their behalf."
