Star Wars Celebration IV Coming to Los Angeles

Star Wars fans will meet Fanboys on Friday, May 25, when the world's biggest Star Wars party hosts an exclusive look at select scenes from the upcoming comedy, followed on Saturday by a special panel discussion with the filmmakers.

In Fanboys, director Kyle Newman has fashioned an uproarious comedy that follows a group of young friends on a cross-country quest to break into Skywalker Ranch and see Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace before it is released. Fanboys stars Sam Huntington (Superman Returns), Chris Marquette (Joan of Arcadia), Dan Fogler (the upcoming Kung Fu Panda), Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars), Jay Baruchel and Seth Rogen (both of the upcoming Knocked Up). Fanboys is a Weinstein Company presentation being released in theaters by MGM.

In a special presentation - held on the 30th anniversary of Star Wars - fans at CELEBRATION IV will see scenes from the film that Newman will introduce on-stage.

As a special bonus, a unique "prequel" comic book to Fanboys, which follows the characters' obsessive love of Star Wars, will be offered to fans as a limited edition at CELEBRATION IV.

"There couldn't be a more perfect pairing of movie and audience," said Newman, who will be joined by Fanboys producers Dana Brunetti, Matthew Perniciaro and Kevin Mann at CELEBRATION IV. "Fanboys has truly been a labor of love for everyone involved, so to know that some of the world's biggest Star Wars fans will be among the first to see highlights from the movie is very exciting."

In addition, members of the Fanboys cast are expected to attend CELEBRATION IV, pending production schedules for the popular young actors.

Most of the world knows her best for her performance as Princess Leia in the Star Wars movies, but with a multi-faceted career that includes acclaimed novels such as Postcards from the Edge, and memorable roles in movies like "When Harry Met Sally", Carrie Fisher is one of the most talented and well-rounded entertainers of our generation.

On Saturday, May 26, Fisher will spend a unique, informal evening with Star Wars fans during CELEBRATION IV at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Without a script, without an emcee, the evening promises to be a one-of-a-kind special event, filled with witty and candid insight and memories.

One day after the Star Wars Saga marks its 30th anniversary, the gifted actress and author will share memories, anecdotes and observations about her three decades' worth of Star Wars experiences. Admission to A Conversation With Carrie Fisher will be available exclusively to registered pass holders for CELEBRATION IV.

Tickets to CELEBRATION IV and to A Conversation With Carrie Fisher can be ordered online at registration.gencon.com/celebration/. Admission to Fisher's appearance is $15 and seating is limited for her 9 p.m. appearance.

Fisher, an audience favorite for both her on- and off-screen roles, was 19 years old when she became a cultural icon as Princess Leia in 1977's Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. She is the daughter of actress Debbie Reynolds and singer Eddie Fisher. In addition to Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back, and Star Wars: Episode VI - Return Of The Jedi, Fisher has appeared in numerous movies and television series, including her own series of television specials, Conversations from the Edge with Carrie Fisher. She also has a cameo role in the upcoming Star Wars-themed comedy Fanboys. Fisher devotes much of her time to writing, and has penned the best-selling novels Postcards from the Edge, Surrender the Pink, Delusions of Grandma and The Best Awful.

Four-day and one-day passes to CELEBRATION IV are available online at www.gencon.com/2007/swciv. (Thursday, May 24, is a special preview day exclusively for members of the Official Star Wars Fan Club.)

CELEBRATION IV is expected to draw tens of thousands of fans from around the world for four days filled with live entertainment; celebrities from all six movies; special film and video presentations; special exhibits; exclusive merchandise sold at a 24-hour-a-day store; pop-culture tributes; immersive events; costume contests; and scores of additional activities.

CELEBRATION IV opens to fans with a special "sneak preview" day exclusively for Official Star Wars Fan Club members on Thursday, May 24. The event opens to the general public on the anniversary day, May 25, which is also when CELEBRATION IV's gala Opening Ceremonies will be held. The show runs through Memorial Day, Monday, May 28.
